Tumakas na naman ako sa bahay. I don’t want to do this pero kailangan. Dad’s been really tight about me lately. Ni hindi na ako makagamit ng laptop or phone. Kinoconfiscate na yung cellphone ko tuwing gabi. And he always checks my inbox. Shit, isn’t this “trespassing” through one’s property?!

“Hello.. Bea.. yup.. kapag tumawag sina Dad sa iyo and ask if magkasama tayo, can you just please say yes?.. well, I’m on my way to meet Rhys ngayon. Yuh.. please please please Beeaaa… please.” I beg over my phone. “Awww.. thank you so much! Last na talaga ito. Mua.”

I rode the taxi and went to SM.

“Yana..”

“Hey.. tara.” I held his hand and we went inside KFC.

“Is this your gift to me?” He grinned.

“Part of my gift.” I said smiling sheepishly.

“Oh.. okay.” He smiled to me and squeezed my hand.

We sat down and he ordered. I wanted to pay it myself, pero ayaw naman niya, so okay, suit yourself Rhys.

“So.. ano na yung gift mo saken?” He smiled sheepishly.

“Wag ka ngang ngumiti ng ganyan. Mukha kang ewan.”

“Mukhang ewan pero mahal mo naman.” He laughed.

“Whatever.” I laughed with him. “Well, this is nothing special, actually.”

“Nothing special?!” He scoffed. “Lahat na nanggaling sa iyo or ginagawa mo, for me, those are special.” He smiled again.

“Reallyy?” I asked sweetly.

“Of course.” He answered.

“Well, here.” I handed him a box.

“Is this it?” He asked excitedly.

“Yep.” I smiled again.

“So can I open this?”

“Hmm.. later on.” I said. “For now, let’s dig in.”

“Great idea.” He smiled and we ate.

On the other side of the metro.

BEA’s POV

“Ohh.. hi, Tito Edgar?” I smiled.

“Good evening Bea. Si Yana?” He asked.

What the hell is he doing here?!

“S-Si-si Yana?” I asked back.

“Yeah, si Yana.” He looked confused.

“Uhmm.. well, kakaalis niya lang eh. Besides, it’s kinda late na for her.. you know, to.. stay here.” I lied.

Huuuuhhh?! I LIED?! Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I lied to a person who’s been very good to me!

“Well, nagcommute lang siya?”

“Uhmm.. yeah. I tried to.. you know convince her na ipahatid siya kay Manong, pero she insisted. Alam mo naman yang friend ko Tito, when she had put her mind into it, wala nang makakapagbago.” I smiled.

“Have you made-u some story before, Bea?” This time, Yana’s father sounded firm and scary.

“N-no?” O_O Bingo!

“It shows.” He said and stormed out of the house.

“Tito-!” I slumped myself to the couch. “Great, totally great. Did I help at all?” I let out a heavy breath.

When I arrived home, I saw Dad sitting on the couch sa living room. I stopped and looked at him.

“Good evening.” Huminga ako ng malalim. “I’m sorry kung medyo nagabihan ako ng uwi, traffic kasi-“

“I trusted you, Yana.”

“Dad-“

He then stood up at umakyat sa kwarto niya.

Hindi ko alam kung anong klase ng pakiramdam ang naramdaman ko when I saw the look on Dad’s face. Naiwan lang akong nakatayo dun and before I knew it, tears filled my eyes.

“Yana!” Bea called me up.

“Bea..” I said almost whispering.

“I’m sorry. I really didn’t expect na pupunta si Dad mo sa bahay. I covered up for you, pero di parin nakalusot.”

“It’s alright.” I smiled. “Hindi ko sana ginawa yun. Tuloy, you even lied.”

“Yana.. just a piece of advice from a friend.” She looked at me. “Is Rhys really worth it all? I mean, do you really think he’s worth all the trouble? Just follow your dad. Alam mo kung anong kayang gawin ng daddy mo. And, people that are meant to be together, always find their ways in the end. So, why not let go? Just.. for now.”

I paused and looked at her.

“How I wish I can.”

“Vince!”

“Yana..” He smiled.

Huminga ako ng malalim trying to figure out kung panu ko sasabihin sa kanya na magkikita na naman kami ni Rhys ngayon.

“Uhm-“

He looked at me.. hurt.

“Yeah, you can go.”

I looked at him one last time.

“Thanks.” I smiled and went on my way.

At ilang ulit pa ito naulit.

“Yana.. I know what’s happening.”

“Rhys-“

“And I won’t let go.”

“Rhys..”

“Promise.”

Then enwrapped me in a warm hug.
