The sunlight flooded in and cast upon Luna in a brilliant glow, as if to welcome her to the start of a new day. She stirred awake groggily, and reluctantly left the comfortable warmth of her soft blankets.
The remaining flickers of her recent dream retreated into the back of her mind as she became more aware. Luna rose from her bed and stretched her muscles, releasing the tension in them put there from sleeping in the same position for too long. She let out a satisfied sigh when she was done.
Luna rubbed the remaining sleep out of her eyes, and walked down the steps of the stairs carefully. Each stair felt like an icy brick that would make her tumble to the ground if she wasn't careful enough.
Luna finally made it down the stairs after cautiously moving to each step. Now that she was at the bottom, her eyes automatically went to her mother, who was reading one of her favorite books while sitting at the chair in the living room.
"Hi Mom." Luna said with a bright smile, as she walked over to her mother. She welcomed her with a warm hug.
"Well, good morning Luna. How are you on this wonderful morning?" Her mother asked, hugging Luna back tightly.
Luna chuckled. "I doing great today Mom. I'll be heading to Rose's house later today, so if you need anything from me, I'll be with Rose." She said, as she stepped out of the living room and walked into the kitchen. Luna started a pot of Earl Grey Tea to begin the morning like usual. As Luna was waiting for the tea to finish brewing, she suddenly got a phone call from none of then her best friend, Rose.
"Hello." Luna said, when it signaled that Rose had picked up the phone.
"What's up, girl! Are you ready for today?" Rose said, as hyper and excited as ever.
"Heck yeah, I'm ready!" Luna replied enthusiastically. During their conversation, the tea pot whistled on the stove, and Luna turned down the flame and opened the stopper to let out the steam. She picked up a cup from the cabinet, and set it on the counter next to her gently.
"Did you get the 'powder' that I asked for?" Rose asked mysteriously. In the backround, Luna could hear her stepping down some stairs. Luna carefully poured the hot tea into her cup before answering.
"...Yeah, I got it. Do you have the book?" Luna questioned, as she sipped her tea delicately.
"Yes. Come over soon so that we can get the potion started." Rose said. Luna could hear the backround noise stop when Rose reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Okay. I need to get ready before I go, but after that, I'll head over as soon as I can." Luna said. She hung up and put her now empty cup in the dish washer. After walking up the stairs, she got her outfit out and laid it on her bed. It was a plain black t-shirt with blue jeans. Her outfit wasn't extremely complex, because she figured that making the potion with Rose wouldn't require a beautiful outfit. Before going, she decided to take a quick shower.
Click.
The shower head turned on and sprayed water on to Luna as she stood below it. The droplets of water trailed down her face gently and trickled through her black hair like a mimic of rain. She washed through her hair with lavender soap and watched as it mixed with the water to make the fragile bubbles. She carefully washed it out and reached for her conditioner. Once the conditioner was washed out of her hair as well, she turned off the water and ran her hand through her naturally soft hair quickly, to get the excess water out. Then, she grabbed two towels off of the rack nearby. One for her hair, and the other for her body.
Luna walked out of the bathroom and into her room. She kept the towel for her hair in to get rid of the water better, but took off the other towel, putting it in the laundry basket by the door. She made a mental note to do the laundry later. Luna then put on the outfit she prepared, her black shirt and ripped jeans. She moved to her bathroom mirror and took off the remaining towel. She started to blow dry and brushed her hair out carefully. When she was done, Luna quickly grabbed the keys to her car and the 'powder' Rose requested. She ran down stairs, grabbing a banana for a quick breakfast, and walked out the front door to her car. She got in the car, turned the key, and drove out of the driveway, her heart pounding in anticipation.
