When I wrote most of this there was so much noise :/

Shawn's POV

"The date is the seventeenth of July," I paused as I held the recorder in my hands. "... and our test subject for the drug became ill so we cannot test the drug until we find a new tester..."

I rummaged through a few sheets of paper on my desk with my other hand, looking at the several pages of the drug's formula and the slips that the tester was supposed to sign if they were able to come.

"I am expecting someone to arrive and take over the assumed tester's spot- if they agree since it's such short notice."

I heard a knock at the door, so I set down the recorder and went to answer the door.

((Shawn forgets to turn off the recorder))

"What is it this time, Shawn?" A young woman asked, slightly annoyed but curious.

'Always the same, aren't you?' I thought as I saw her, the first time in awhile.

She had dark brown hair a bit lower than her shoulders, with grey and light blue beautiful eyes under a few short bangs. Pam always had that chain tucked under her shirt, though I have no idea why it's so important to her. She had a light shirt under a partially zipped black jacket that looks in fairly new condition, but it was a bit big on her as she usually likes it. Pam wore dark blue shorts that you could barely see past the bottom of her jacket- around mid-thigh- and had simple tennis-shoes.

"Pam, thank you so much for coming so soon," I told her as she entered the room. "Do you remember the new drug we're developing that I told you about a few months ago?"

"Yes, I do. Is that why I came over?"

"Yeah, the tester became sick so I called you..." I told her.

"Again? Why not get someone else?" Pam huffed.

"Because you're someone reliable,"

"You don't have a strong argument."

"Please?" I practically beg Pam to change her mind, but she's stubborn sometimes- like how i'm stubborn about asking for her help. "It's for science! Plus we need the results sooner than later now."

Pam gave a slight declining expression, but I know her. She'll eventually give in.

"I want to," Pam paused to glance away from me. "but the last time you asked me and I accepted it just... didn't work out, okay? Why isn't there anyone else wanting to do it?"

"No one really had the time right now," I answered, grabbing a couple slips of paper on my desk. "It's a simple sleep prevention- but instead you have benefits from not sleeping like healing, memory and things from when you do sleep... just when you're awake and it helps on production. If this works, it will change the world- or if the government wants- just this country. It's a thousand percent safe and if anything goes wrong--"

"You'll cover for me," Pam sighed. "I know, I know. Last time you barely pulled me out of the tested drug, and I bet it wasn't as strong or body-damaging as this."

"Again, please." I pleaded to her, and she started to look more away than earlier which means i'm getting to her. "It needs some time though because we need those results plus the after effects."

"..." she stopped looking at me, then closed her eyes.

It was quiet for a moment as Pam thought about what she should do; she turned away as she debated with herself. I heard a deep breath from Pam before she turned around back to me, right before she snatched the papers in my hand to look at them.

Pam grumbled something before clearing her throat. "You're lucky that I hate hurting my friends in any way..."

I felt so happy and kept thanking her for doing this, but she just said her usual 'yeah i know' since she doesn't appear to like flattery much. As I kept talking, Pam reached with one hand to get a pen from an inside pocket while she read over the slips. After a couple minutes she walked over to my desk and signed where she needed then gave it back to me.

"So, When do we start?"

"Uhm," I paused, my mind blanking out the times. "... As soon as this evening, but we just gotta check if everything is ready. It'll take a few hours, so I'll call you when you need to come back?"

"Am I able to stay here or at your place? I drove quite a ways to get here," Pam said. Now that I look at her, she has visible bags under her eyes.

"Of course," I replied hesitantly as I thought about my messy house. "You can sleep the hours off- you look tired anyways,"

She laughed, but covered her mouth with her hand as she did so. "I always look like that, so I don't think it'll help."

I walked to a shelf near the door to grab my car keys, then opened the door to let her out so we can go. Before I leave this room or my house, I always look to see if there's something I need or forgot to do. As my eyes scanned the room, I saw a faint red light coming from the recorder. I keep forgetting to turn it off, so I had to walk to it and flip the switch to 'off', then finally close the door to drive Pam to my house.

Now I just have to get the place ready in time and hope that this test will work.

Hello my beautiful clouds! I was reading a lot of sleep prevention stories and things like that so I wanted to write my own. It cuts off here because that's basically all that the recorder heard, even though it was in Shawn's POV, and I didn't want to write the drive and what happened those few hours because I'm lazy (if you guys/gals want me to write a side story of that, then I will).

It may be slow updates plus how I can't write sometimes, but I hope you enjoyed this short little chapter and I'll try to get more done sooner.
