''DING DING''

I woke up with a startle.

Is it 9 o'clock already?!

I don't know why I even bother anymore to set an alarm this early in the morning instead of just sleeping in. It's not like I have anything productive to do today. Just like any other day I am going to stay at home, doing nothing.  Also the exhaustion from staying up all night, thinking about what has come to be my life was too much. Only when it was 4am did I get to finally relax and fall asleep.

Just by thinking about it again, makes my eyes tear up. I turned my head to the side and looked out the window as the memories floodied back...

TWO YEARS AGO

I was walking down the stairs of my house, heading to the kitchen to grab something to eat before going out. It was fairly late at night and me and my girlfriends had decided to go out for drinks at last minute. I had just turned 22 the week before and with finally getting my degree in business management at Princeton University, I felt like all of my responsibilities were gone and I was finaly free to let loose and have some fun. That's why I was now dressed in my favourite little black slinky dress that accentuated all the right parts, a pair of sexy black strappy heels and bold red lipstick.

I wasn't used to clubing and dressing like that but it was time to change that. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't like I never went out for a drink or two while I was a student, I did, but it was a rare occasion. Most of the time I stayed at my dorm studying until past midnight instead of partying like people of my age did.

And the biggest issue was that business management wasn't even something I chose to study. No,it was solely a decision my father, Sebastian Webster, made. He claimed that, because my older brother, Austin, had chose to become a lawyer, there was only one other person that was left to take on the Webster Enterprises and that was me. So he pressured me to study something that I hated and leave behind my dreams to study literature so ''I will continue the legacy of our family'', as he often said.

Sebastian Webster is a very wise man and I am very proud of him and his achievements. He built an empire from scratch and now he is the CEO of one of the largest and strongest companies in America and basically owns half the city of New York. However, most of the time he seems to care more about his said company than his own children. How can he force me to do a job that I actually loathed ? What good would come out of it? These were two questions that I asked him plenty of times and they always led to us arguing. Now that I graduated from Princeton he was pressuring me to start working with him at the company so I would learn a thing or two before actually letting me handle things on my own. It was one thing to work in a job I didn't want, I would also have my father watching and judging my every move. Not something I dreamt of. And for the first time I was very vocal about it, which was driving my father crazy. Lately the only thing that we were doing was quarrel and my mother was the one trying to calm things out. Thank god my brother would come around the house sometimes and stand up for me.
