Chapter 3

Scarlet

After that amazing weekend, the rest of the week went by extremely fast and it was already Friday. My father had arranged a visit of mine and head offices today. Yay!I was going to view the whole building and the purpose of everything that exists inside there. I was also lucky enough that I'd be able to meet some of dad's business partners. I couldn't wait! Not!

I was already dressed in my sharpest black suit that my mom had bought for me especially for this day. "It's your  first day at work honey...It's really important that you look the best",she said when she brought it home. Well if the sophisticated suit jacket and the black skirt that I literally felt suffocating me right now could be labeled as best... To make myself more uncomfortable I have put on some expensive tall black stilettos with red sole that actually gave me some height to work with. The bad thing was I couldn't even stand on these things. Why I bought them then, you may ask? I was so into Gossip Girl, at that time that I saw first saw them,like every other teenage girl I knew, and I was  absolutely convinced that if I had a pair of shoes like that, I could be as beautiful and sexy as Serina Vanderwoodsen. Yeah, dumb, I know...

Anyway a tried to walk, tried being the key word, to the front exit of my house where dad waited on me inside the car. Mum was nowhere to be found. I thought she might want to see my attire, she was the one that insisted afterall, but nevermind I was already a tad late. I stepped in the car and greeted dad and Bruce and sat down on the plush seat. As we were driving through the loud and busy streets of New York heading downtown, I took a glimpse of dad. He was suprisingly quiet and he was looking out the car window skeptically. I thought he would be ecstated that I finally agreed to come to the office with but now he looked anything but that. He looked anxious, sad even.Something was troubling his mind and I was dying to know what that was.Thoughts flooded my mind as we were pulling up at the front entrance of Webster Enterprises.

The time was near... I couldn't believe it was finally happening. I thought that when that time came I would be happy, but I'm not. WE were in a car heading to the head offices of Webster Enterprises, my company, the one that I strived to make one of the best companies in the game...and I actually did. And now that dream that I once had and that now was a reality was in the hands of my precious daughter, Scarlet, and I know that burden will be too much for her. And I can't blame her. It shouldn't happen like that, that sudden...But I didn't have a choice anymore. The sharers were pressing for something to happen and fast. We did't have more time. Our stock prices were dropping and in any minute one after the other our business partners would start to back out of our deals. I couldn't let that happen... These thoughts that poisoned my mind and at the same time fueled me to continue with plan as it was decided. We made it to our destination and watched  Scarlet got out of the car looking really business-like and with a worried expression on her face that I was sure I caused with my very cryptic behavior. Maybe she thought something was happening to me. She cared too much about me and the rest of our family. My sweetheart. Well in a few moments I was certain she would change her mind ,I thought sadly.

We were walking through the huge lobby of the company that was filled with people running around doing their jobs. All of them were looking at me and my father and were giving us warm greetings. My father seems to be really respectable and lovable among his employees and truth be told that was something that didn't suprise me at all. If he was as great at being a CEO as he was a father, caring and strict at the right times, then it all made sense.

We continued straight ahead to the main desk.

"Goodmorning Mr. Webster, Miss Webster, what can I do for you?", the woman behind the desk asked politely. She was stunning with her luscious red hair and full pout that she emphasized with bright red lipstick. I just smiled at her and looked down, feeling suddenly nervous around her amazing looks.
