"I told you I was coming, right?" I huffed, shaking my fist.
Hyemi had called me during dinner, her voice stuttering as she obviously was scared.
She told me she was being followed, and I tensed, so I left to pursue her in the middle of the night, with protests from my other brothers.
I can't leave her alone out there, she was in danger.
I searched the block and saw her on the ground, with the man towering over her like prey.
Rushing to her side, I save her from the man, punching him as hard as I could and knocking him off, throwing off his cap to the ground.
"Kook! " She cried out, scrambling over to me and hugging me tight.
I felt the warmth of my cheeks persist, but I wrapped my arms around her, hugging Hyemi back as tight as I could.
I stood alert, eyeing the man on the ground as Jimin and Taehyung caught up to me. It was a moment before I realized why he was so familiar.
"Y-you're the taxi driver from yesterday!"
"Look kid, mind your own business." The guys started to stand up. "Hyemi and I have some unfinished business..."
"Leave me alone, Hwang Yoonjae!"
"Aw come on, honey--" She cringed at his words. "--We were so good together!"
"Leave her alone!" I let go of Hyemi and charged at the guy, kicking his stomach.
"Kook!" Jimin yells as he breathes, standing beside Hyemi, who was swaying in silence. Taehyung approaches me, patting my back. "Was he hurting Hyemi?"
"Yes." I breathed. "He's a stalker."
I crouched down and held him by the arm.
"I called the cops when we were running," Taehyung holds the man captive as well. "They're on their way. Mia, are you alright?"
I looked over to her direction, as Hyemi only managed to give a thumbs up before her knees buckled. Jimin catching her before she falls to the floor.
"Mi!" We exclaimed.
---
Two police cars stopped in front of us, arresting Yoonjae and bringing us to the precinct for inquiry.
My head was a mess during the car ride, Hyemi's cold hand holding tightly onto my bruised ones while Jimin and Taehyung calls our managers and the other members of Luvie and BTS, with the exception of Jin and his wife.
Who is he? This Yoonjae guy really shook up Hyemi so bad that she's not responding to any of us no matter what. But Hyemi seemed to know him, so they must have been acquainted. But she was so scared of him, so I rule out the idea that he might be an old friend surprising her.
Who was this psycho think he is to hurt Hyemi like that?
Sunhee and Jangmi were waiting at the police station when we arrived, beckoning us in as we sat in uncomfortable chairs in front of the investigator.
"I need to know specifically what happened here, Ms. Jung." The officer sighs. "Can you tell us, in the best of your abilities, what happened?"
It was still obvious that Hyemi was afraid, her hand was still shaking and cold as she hold on to my hand. I sat protectively beside her as Yoonjae sat away from us, cuffed, with the others surrounding us.
"He was following me, sir. I was just coming home from university and stopping over for rice cakes." Hyemi exhaled. "Then I noticed he was following me. I kept walking away from our home in hopes to tire him out so he leaves me alone but he insisted and even tried going near me, so I called Jungkook. He started chasing me so I started running, but I twisted my ankle so he caught up. It's a good thing Jungkook, Jimin and Taehyung arrived on time or he would have got me."
"Do you know this guy, Hwang Yoonjae?"
"We used to work together when we were trainees in my old agency. He tried to ask me out when I was in high school and I rejected him."
It clicked in my brain, and so it made sense. That guy has been stalking him since she was a teenager all because she rejected him.
I visibly tensed, glaring at the guy when I felt her place her shaky hand on top of mine and shook her head with a small smile.
"Really?" I ask her softly. "I could punch him again for you if you want."
"It's okay. You'll get in trouble." She said quietly. "We're in the police station, remember?"
The inquiry lasted longer but soon we were walking out of the station. That bastard Yoonjae was finally out of her life, as we filed a case and a restraining order against him.
Sunhee and I supported her as we brought her over the hospital to get her foot checked while the others waited outside.
"Hyemi?" Hyejin's friend, Dr. Na Jieun approaches us in the ER. "What happened to you?!"
"She encountered a stalker." Sunhee said for all of us as nurses began to clean her up. "Can you check if she broke her foot, Dr. Na?"
I sat beside her for the meantime as Dr. Na bandaged Hyemi's leg.
I observed carefully as they wrapped the sprained ankle with bandage, cleaned up the gashes in her knees and arms in complete silence, the white noise being the bustling sounds around us in the emergency room.
After a long silence, Hyemi finally spoke again.
"Thank you so much koo... For coming out there... and, well, giving Yoonjae a well-deserved punch."
I look up to her face to see her smiling weakly, some color already returning to her cheeks as she wrapped the bed's blanket over her shoulders.
"Of course." I chuckled. "You can always rely on me."
We sat quietly until they were done treating her, Sunhee taking calls and fixing everything for us.
"Did you file a case against the perpetrator, Mia?" Dr. Na asked and Mia nodded in response. "Get some rest at home, Mi. You two can go home after Sunhee's done at the cashier."
She left us to tend to other patients, and so I began standing up to help her up, when she tugs at my sleeve and looks up at me sheepishly.
"Can you stay over again tonight?"
