The hours before had passed slowly, with nothing happening. I had bathed, letting the warm water wash over the thoughts and drain with several loud glugs. I had never found bathing appealing, and those noises were one of the reasons why. Now, I had dried my hair and pulled on a midnight blue suit. Somehow the dark shade seemed more informal to me. There was not a peep of the maid, but when I left the beautiful larimar and quartz walls, the bedroom had been left in pristine condition. The sheets folded, carpet cleaned, curtains drawn, wood polished, shelves dusted, plant watered, skirt-board washed. And a flowing smell of raindrops on roses.

I shouldn't dawdle, I supposed. But, I could just stay and enjoy the perfume.. Was I really taking advantage of such luxuries? Preposterous. It was 10:25. I would not just laze around all day. So, I headed down and into the room where the work was happening. There were only blinking lights in the room and several screens on, each with multiple applications open.
