Another day begins, one nightmare ends, a new one begins.
I sigh and climb out of bed, yawning.
Usually I forget my dreams right after I wake up, but not these nightmares. Especially not, when they have Adam in them...
A cold chill runs down my spine. I still see his suffering face from the nightmare so clearly. As if it actually happened!
I grab my phone and text Adam:

"I'm such an idiot!" I think to myself while pinching my forehead.
"Couldn't I have asked him how he was in a more subtle way??"
"Good thing Adam took it in a humorous way. Can't imagine how awkward it would have been if he hadn't started cracking jokes..." I sigh.
Well, now that that mess is over, I guess I might as well get some breakfast.
As I'm stumbling towards the door, still in trance from my dream, I trip over my own feet and fall to the ground.
"Ow!! I hope Jaiden didn't wake up because of me .."
Suddenly my phone starts ringing. "ADAM?" I yell in a worried voice, as soon as I pick up.
That's exactly how my nightmare began! Adam called me to tell me about something terrible that had happened and then..
I don't want to think about it...
"No. This is not Adam. It's Ari... Are you ok James?? Something happen??" My little sister starts asking in a confused voice.
"Nono I'm fine..."
Jaiden's POV
I wake up after hearing a loud thud, seemingly from upstairs. "Was that James?" I wondered as I rubbed my eyes. "James are you oka-" I am interrupted midsentence by James yelling out "ADAM!" in a terrified voice.
"The f#$k? Adam is not here??" I ask out loud as I slide out of bed. Then I hear another thud. And another "ADAM"
"Ok I HAVE to find out what the f#ck is going on!" I think to myself, as I'm practically sprinting to James' room.
I carefully peek through the slit between the door and the doorframe.
In the room I see James sitting on his bed, while talking on the phone.
He seems fine.
I was about to walk away and brush it off, when I heard him laugh, then chuckle.
"Stoooooop! Stop teasing me with that! It's embarrassing!" He giggles.
I barely hear him talk with a soft voice like that..?
"Yeah yeah okay. I love you too. Bye" He says before hanging up.
Now I'm really curious.
Was he talking to Adam?
He has screamed out his name multiple times and Adam makes him laugh a lot. Adam would also be able to tease him with embarrassing stories, since they hang out almost every day and therefore, experience lots of embarrassing things together.
Just as I was about to enter the room to ask James about what just happened, he started walking towards the door.
"Crap!"
I don't know why, but I ran. I ran through the hallway, down the stairs, through the livingroom and into the kitchen.
I grab some cereal to act all nonchalant, in case James walks in.
And he does.
Merely 10 to 15 seconds later, James enters the kitchen, typing something into his phone, while humming a song. Adam's song.
" Ha look at me- Oh hi Jaiden!" He exclaims with a surprised voice as he stops singing and humming.
"Oh hi Mark" I grin back, making him snicker.
Not as much as when he was talking to Adam though....
"Whatever. I shouldn't compare myself to him! James likes me for who I am! Who cares if he's closer to Adam than to me..."
...
"I care..."
"Jaiden?" James asks, tilting his head in confusion, like a puppy. "Are you ok? You've been staring at me for a while now..?"
"Oh! Sorry about that! Yeah I'm fine! Just zoning out!" I exclaim with a smile plastered on my face.
"Alrighty then!" James starts whistling and dancing around the kitchen a little, while waiting for his bread to toast, his eyes still glued to his phone screen.
"What's so important on your phone right now? That thing is practicially practically attached to your hands and eyes now" I try to joke.
"Huh?" James ask, obviously caught off guard. "Sorry. Could you repeat that?"
"Oh nothing..." I'd feel lame repeating the joke. So I'd rather just say nothing.
