I woke up in my usual panicked state, my body dripping with sweat and completely out of breath
I've been having the same dream every night for the past 3 months and i have no idea what is wrong with me so i decide to see a therapist about it and after weeks of "studying me" he couldn't find anything wrong
he said ''it was just a nightmare, it's normal and you should try not to stress so much about it'' but I know hes wrong because this is not normal
Normal people don't wake up in pain drenched in sweat
Normal people don't dream the same dream every single night
Normal people don't want to be engulfed in flames just to feel the touch of a shadow
Normal people don't think about someone they've never met or seen 24/7
What's going on with me is not normal, so i decided to get a second opinion but this time instead of a therapist or a psychologist I went to a psychic
Usually I would be skeptical about this sort of thing but after everything that's been happening to me I've learned to be alot more open minded
The psychics "office" was in the basement of her house which freaked me out a little but thankfully my parents would be in the next room the entire time
"Don't worry sweetie, your aunt Marie said shes very good" my mum said soothingly as she gave my hand a squeeze and left the room
"Lets get started shall we" the brightly dressed woman said with a cheerful smile "so would you like to jump right into it or do you want to tell me what exactly it is you want me to read?" She asked offering her hand out for mine
"Let's just get right into it" I said taking her hand with my shaking one
"Hmm I see new beginnings for you but also new ends as if the beginning of one thing could also result in the end of another" she mumbles as if she's speaking more to herself then me
"Its a person, the new beginning I saw just now, is a person, a boy to be exact, meeting this boy will be the best thing to happen to you but it could easily go the other way, this person is in alot of pain and I sense there's alot of sadness within him, Also I see this person is fighting an internal battle within himself and without you he could destroy himself but you could also be destroyed in the process, it all depends on you"
My breathing started to quicken as I listened intently to what she was saying
"Im not saying this person is bad for you, Just the opposite actually, this person will bring out the best in you and you will bring out the best in this person but when the time comes when the truth it revealed you must focus on the good and not the bad, that is the only way you both will survive" my breath catches in my throat for a second at her words
"I also see there's something bothering you but you're either too nervous to tell me or you're scared about what I will say, but do not worry child I am here to help any way I can" she looks up at me expectedly
I take a deep breath before I speak softly" I've been having this dream, every night for the past 3 months usually the whole dream is a blur and i dont remember much about it but lately things have been clearer yet it always ends the same way, nothing changes"
"Tell me" is all She says as she stares intently at me
"In the beginning, there's a boy standing in front of me.
He was nothing but a shadow but his eyes were clear as day except they weren't human eyes that's one thing I'm sure of, They were a startling orange colour with unusual blue flecks as if there was an actual fire burning inside of them
And I was carried into the flames but I wasn't afraid of being burnt, I was more afraid of being without him yet it seemed the closer I got to the flames the further he drifted away
And the further he drifted the more the flames felt unbearable."
"That will be the boy, It seems the time for meeting him is near and you must be prepared for when he arrives" she says to me
"Will I know its him as soon as I meet him?" I ask
"You'll know" Is the only response I get before she leads me out of the room
My parents see me and rush to me "How was it? Worth the $50 we paid?" My Dad asked pulling me in for a hug
"She helped me alot and also gave me some things to think about and prepare for" I said sighing in content as I took comfort in my father's embrace.
The car ride home was filled with banter and laughter which was refreshing, things seemed to be looking up already and i couldnt help the smile that was glued on my face.
That night the dream came again but this time I wasn't dreading it instead I was excited to see if I'd be able to make out more then just his eyes, maybe I'd actually get to see his face this time, maybe just maybe.
The dream started as usual
The boy stood infront of me with his striking yet beautiful eyes but this time I wasn't drawn into them
This time my feet stayed planted on the ground
As his shadow of a hand reached out to cup my face, I leaned into it as if I needed to feel his touch to survive as if it was the only thing keeping me from burning
His shadowed face leaned towards mine and i felt his soft lips capture mine in the sweetest kiss
I felt as if I had been waiting my entire life for this moment but in just a second it had past
And as usual he started to drift away but no matter how fast I ran I could not catch up to him
But then I heard the most beautiful sound that could have ever blessed my ears
His voice
"I will see you soon, my love"
