Driving, driving has always been boring to me. I suppose it is boring to many people. Moving from California to D.C. is long. Too long. It is a fourty one hour drive, approximately two thousand seven hundred seventy nine point nine miles. Thats just to the state of D.C. not to mention where my house is.
I have been driving for twenty one hours. I have stopped 7 times for nap breaks plus food and water. I'm half way there. I've also been listening to my crappy radio. The stations stopped working about three hours ago.
Oh, look, a hitch hiker. That's a dangerous way to move around, you never know who will pick you up. A serial killer could, and bye bye birdie to you. As I drive closer, I notice that this person could not be a hitch hiker. They're too dirty to ever be picked up. They also may have an Injury due to their leaning to one side, her clothing is filty, but much too nice looking for them to be a hitch hiker.
I pull over and roll my window down."Hello ma'ma I have noticed that you are injured and are you ok?" As I say this she rushes over to my car, dragging her left leg and nearly rips the door off of my car trying to get in. "HELP HE IS GOING TO KILL ME, PLEASE!!". She is screaming at me trying to get in. I unlock the door and she hops in and starts sobbing saying "thank You" over and over.
As I start to drive off, I notice that a man comes out of the woods. He makes eye contact with me and smiles waving me down. I don't like the look in his eyes. I lock my car doors and crack the window. The man comes over and the woman starts freaking you telling me to drive. I floor it just as the man reaches my car.
We are about thirty minuets away from where I found her "Is there anywhere I can take you?" I ask, Surely she lives somewhere near by. "The nearest police station, please". I hand her a water. "You must be tired" I say, "I'll wake you up when we get there if you'd like". She shakes her head and takes the water.
"Thank you for the water, but I would perfer to be awake when we get there". I nod my head and focus on signs of the nearest town. There isn't one. I sigh and take out my phone, no service either. Damn.
"The nearest town is most likely an hour or two away, is that ok?" I ask glancing at her. She smiles and shakes her head yes. "You moving?" She asks quietly. "Yes". The ride is silent for the rest of the way until I see a cop car parked at a diner. I needed to stop anyways, why not kill two birds with one stone.
"There is a police officer in that diner, would you like to talk to him?" I ask whike pulling into the parking lot. The diner is small, it has a red roof that is slanted to the left and two huge windows with a glass door in the middle. It looks old. Really old. I glance at the woman and see that she is asleep.
I will get the officer myself then. I shouldn't leave her here though, that man could have followed us. I park the car right in front of the window so i have a view of my car and walk in. I make sure to lock the doors. I walk in and see the offiicer.
He looks young. He has black hair that goes into a fade toward the bottom and blue eyes. He is very handsome. Maybe mid twentys, he has tan skin, physically fit. I walk over to him "Excuse me sir" he looks up from his menu and raises an eyebrow "Yes?" His voice is deep, not smooth though. He smokes.
"There is a woman in my car, I found her injured on the side of the road. She was running from someone". He stands immediately and looks around and then back at me. "Where is she? Do you know her name?" I shake my head and lead him to my car, she's still asleep. I tap on my window and she wakes up.
I unlock my doors and the officer takes one look at her and starts to radio someone. "I found the victim, repeat, I found the victim". She must have been missing for a while then. The woman gets out of the car and runs to the officer. "Oh thank goodness officer! That man tried to kill me!"
She had pointed at me. That bitch accused me of kidnapping and attempted murder. "Pardon me, but i certainly did not, I helped her when I saw her bleeding and limping. A man came out of the woods looking for her". Maybe I should have left her on the side of the road. The officer looks at her and then at me. He draws his gun and points it in my direction.
Its not aimed at me however. Its aimed behind me. All of a sudden I feel something cold on my left temple. A gun, great. "One move and I'll kill him, I swear I will!" The man says behind me. I'm glad I put my check in my notebooks earlier, he could have taken it.
