"You're going to school?" Peter's aunt, May asked as Peter walked towards the front door of their apartment. Peter had been sick the past few days, with a common cold.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" Peter asked, turning the door handle, smiling a little bit at his aunt.

"Okay, just, if you don't feel so good, go to the nurse," May said in a slightly demanding tone, she was serious. She knew that something could always pop up, and if Queens needed a friendly neighborhood Spider-man, May didn't want him to be unable to help.

"Got it!" Peter opened the door, giving a slight wave before heading down the stairs quickly, he actually wanted to go to school that day. He wanted to go because it was his longtime crushes birthday, Michelle. He had bought her a black dolia hairpiece, and he was happy with it. MJ almost always wore her hair in a low ponytail, and it was a type of scrunchie that had a beautiful, black dolia ornament on it. He was ecstatic to give it to her, maybe she'd have a better idea of him.

He'd decided to take the bus, he didn't want to risk swinging to school, because he was sick AND he was scared something would happen to the scrunchie. When he finally got to school, he was nearly 'greeted' by MJ, by bumping into her, with such grace (the opposite).

"Shit! Sorry!" his voice cracked a little, helping his birthday crush up. "Oh, hey, MJ." he puts on a warm smiled for her. "Hap-Happy birthday!" he wished nervously, this wasn't his ideal vision of how he would give her the gift.

"Hey, nerd." she sighed lightly, brushing herself off. "And thanks, one year closer to death I guess," she said, putting her usual dark spin on things.

"I have something for you," he said, taking off his backpack, setting it on the ground and digging aggressively. Worst case scenario, he couldn't find it. But luckily, it was right where he left it, in the front pocket. Usually where he keeps his super important stuff, with the exception of his suit, which he kept in the largest pocket in a Ziploc bag, suggested by his aunt. He remembered the conversation they had after May found out exactly Peter was doing in his Internship, she said that he should bring the suit to school every day, in case something happened. It was Queens, after all. Something happened at least every other day, and she said it would be good practice, but he shouldn't take on the huge crimes. Now, Peter really had no choice. The Avengers wasn't around to help, so he had to take full responsibility. He always kept in mind that he had big shoes to fill, always. Even if he got an even slight grade back, he would remind himself that Tony never got bad grades when he was in school. "Here it is! I-It's a black dolia. Your favorite flower."

MJ smiled, genuinely, without a hint a sarcasm. "Wait- this is actually really cool, Peter! Thanks." she admired it, before putting it in her hair. "This is probably the best birthday present I'm gonna get." she winks.
