Soul Ties

Chapter 1

FRIDAY night. Another hard and boring week had
come to an end. Two months into college and I was already tired and bored. I let out a long sigh as I scrolled through Instagram looking at pictures of people living their best lives. I was bored, lonely and hungry yet I was too lazy to do anything about it. It was 7pm and I was ready to sleep like I always do when I don't want to face my problems.

Just as I was about to put my phone down and go to brush my teeth my phone chimed indicating that a new message had come in. Odd.  I smiled as I noticed who the message was coming from, Leo, one of my closest friends. He lived just a few blocks from me. I opened the message and it read "Call?". I contemplated on whether I should call him or just ignore and stick to my plan. Ugh whatever, I pressed the video call icon and waited for him to answer. "Heyyyyyy Binx" he basically screamed with so much excitement. "Hey." I responded dryly. "So whats the plan for tonight? I'm bored." he asked.

I honestly have no idea why this boy was asking me such a question. He knew he was the fun and outgoing one who always came up with the idea.  Without saying a word I motioned to my bed and laughed. " Nah bro we need to do something tonight, let's not be boring." I decided he was right so I suggested that he and our other friend, Josh, come over to my place to chill. With food obviously. In my head I thought we were just going to eat and probably watch a movie so I called over my friend, Courtney, who lived just a few houses down in our gated student community. After half an hour my phone rang and Leo told me they were now outside. I quicky put on my slippers and went outside to open the gate for them. With them they had two large pizzas and a backpack. I asked what was in the backpack and Leo just laughed. This was going to be a long night.

Back in my room Leo and Josh opened the pizza boxes and we started digging in. In the middle of our pizza party Josh stood up and went over to the bag.
"So guys..." he said gaining our attention. "Tonight you two, Binx and Court, are going to experience something amazing." Courtney and I exchanged confused looks. Leo looked so excited I got worried. Josh pulled out a clear bottle of Gin from the bag.
"Okay so we're going to drink Gin? What's so amazing about that?" Courtney asked.
Leo was still beaming in silence then Josh pulled out two blunts from his pocket.

Courtney and I stared at each other and Leo and Josh started laughing like two monkeys. Okay so here's the thing, Courtney and I drank alcohol once in a while like during parties and stuff but we had both never smoked weed or anything. Personally, I was just scared of the unknown. I had seen some of my friends act crazy because they were high and some were just quiet and because I had never smoked, I had no idea what type of high I was so I was scared.

But I guess today would be the day we found out.
