"SO you have to pull it in and let the smoke hit the back of your throat." Leo explained to me as I held the blunt between my fingers. " I can't believe I went from preparing to go to bed at 7 to getting weed lessons from you." I remarked. "Stop over thinking and just do it already Binx!" Josh semi shouted. He was the one who got annoyed the easiest. "Okay fine fine I'll do it." I responded before I put the blunt between my lips. I pulled in the smoke after inhaling it and as soon as it hit the back of my throat I felt like I was suffocating.
I started coughing uncontrollably and my friends started clapping. "Yess B! Thats how you know you're doing it right." Leo said patting me on my back congratulating me as if I had done something really amazing. I passed the blunt to Courtney who did the same thing. Leo and Josh smoked the rest of the blunt as we were still recovering. Afterwards we got back into the house and started telling shots of gin. Something we were familiar with. The shots turned into gulps straight from the bottle as we were getting drunk. Everything became funny and light. "Lets go outside and smoke again!" Courtney slurred and without hesitation we all got out.
We lay on the lawn with our eyes facing the black starry night sky. Leo started with the blunt and this time there was minimal coughing. Somehow during our session we started having a very deep conversation still star gazing. " You know sometimes what breaks us the most is the preconcieved expectations of how life is supposed to be from all the books and movies we read and watch." Josh said.
"Yeah. You know how it goes, the bad boy with some deep issues chases after the smart and naive good girl then after he gets her, his demons catch up to him and somehow the girl gets hurt but they always end up together at the end. Sometimes I feel like thats why we never let go in toxic relationships or friendships because from a very young age we are taught that there's always a happy ending. The guy always gets the girl, the best friends always get back together and the bullied girl always 'conquers' the mean girls."
"Yeah true and I-" Courtney began before she was interrupted by really loud laughter coming from behind us. "Yo these kids are baked!" Someone exclaimed. We all laughed along with them as the walked away. There was silence again. It was so comfortable. The world was at peace. Everything was perfect. I felt light with nothing weighing me down. For the first time in a very long time, I felt free.
The silence was broken by the sound of footsteps on the concrete. Something told me to get up and look so I did just that. I sat up and looked back. A tall person was walking past looking at something on his phone. "Hi!" I shouted. Clearly the weed and the alcohol was starting to hit because normally I was really shy and socially awkward.
"Uhm hi." The stranger said back awkwardly. He had a very deep voice. My eyes were failing to focus on him so I did not really see what he looked like. I laid back down and we continued with our conversation. I was too intoxicated to even listen to what Courtney was saying so I just stared blankly at the stars above me.
"Sorry guys can someone please help me with the gate." I broke out of the trance and sat up to look at the stranger who had walked past earlier. I still could not see him very clearly "Uhm the guard isn't here and I don't live here so I can't open the gate using my fingerprint." He explained. "Sure!" I chirpped cheerfully as I got up to start walking to the gate.
"Are you okay?" The stranger asked and I could hear the amusement in his voice. He was asking because I was struggling to walk straight. "Yeah yeah yeah I'm fine don't worry." I said quickly and as I was about to put my finger on the sensor my legs felt weak and I lost my balance.
"Whooa whoahh! You're going to get hurt." The stranger said catching me in his arms. I immediately froze as I stared into his dark eyes. Something did not feel right about him but I stayed there looking deep into his eyes as if I was looking for something.
Suddenly the stranger crushed his lips into mine and started kissing me. And I have no idea why but I kissed him back for a few seconds before I pulled away.
"My name is Ethan by the way." He said. "Bianca" I said back immediately.
"Binx! Is everything okay?" Leo asked with a concerned look on his face as he jogged towards us.
"Leave me alone Leo. Can't you see I'm busy." I replied back rudely.
Why did he have to disturb such a magical moment!
