Dani's P.O.V.

Thursday, almost the weekend, I can finally get home and get out of drama.  I can see how Josh is slowly getting more and more annoyed of Megan always by his side; she must be really clingy. I’m still waiting for him to just break up with her; I don’t even know how they started dating anyways.

I left the thought alone as I walked back to my locker and opened it, revealing a piece of paper that fell out and onto the tiles of the floor. I looked at it confused and a bit worried, thinking that this is a death threat from Megan or something. My mouth drops when I read it.

Will you go out with me?-Jhutch

This isn’t a trick by Megan is it? I mean, I knew this was Josh’s handwriting. But this just seemed really..odd.  Did he break up with Megan? Did they finally call it quits? I’m supposing if he asked me out then that means that they’ve broken up.

I’ll go ask him, and he would never lie to me right? Right, because he never breaks promises, as he once said.

I shut my locker and crumble the note up, shoving in my pocket as I walk to study hall. As I turn the corner, I find him putting some books from his locker into his backpack. I quietly walk up to him and take the note out of my pocket, smoothing it out and holding it out in front of him.

“I’m supposing this is yours?” I ask, smiling.  He turns his head to look at me and smiles.  His face immediately lights up, probably knowing that I’m going to say yes.

“Yeah uh, I didn’t have the guts to ask you in person,” he says nervously, rubbing the back of his neck and biting his lip waiting for my response. I shake my head and laugh.

“Josh Hutcherson, you now have the extraordinary honor to take me on my first date,”

                                         **********************

I can’t believe it. I’m still taking the news in. I’m going on my first date with Josh Hutcherson. It’s hard to believe.

He said to wear something casual but simple, so I’m sure an easy pair of skinny jeans and a plain white t with a funky necklace and earrings. I let my wavy hair go down and drape over my shoulders, then applying as little makeup as possible. Simple but casual. Perfect for a sort of awkward casual first date. Right?

I stick my phone in my back pocket and slip on some calf-high suede boots. Josh never told me where we were going, so that’s the mystery I’m trying to solve.

As I walk down the stairs, I find Dana lying on the couch channel surfing. A smile spreads across her face with her bright white teeth gleaming at me.

“Well, well, well,” she says slowly. “Josh has asked you out right?” she asks studying my outfit. I smile and nod.

“Awww…my baby sister has her first date,” She gushes, setting the remote down on the coffee table and standing up, walking over to me and blocking my path from the front door. “Well have fun and don’t be back too late,” I roll my eyes but agree and walk out the door.

I notice that Josh is already standing there in front of his motorcycle by our driveway, wearing a plain white shirt under a leather jacket, jeans, and black combat boots.

“Well Josh, you clean up nice,” I say with a smile as I walk towards him.

“So do you,” he returns. “Have you ever ridden a motorcycle before?” he asks slyly.

No. I haven’t ever. I have always wanted to, and hopefully won’t get in an accident. He did have to drive all the way here, so I do give him credit for that.

“Nope, but I’m willing to try,” I answer, taking the helmet.

“Huh, usually everyone is just go scared of riding it,” he remarks.

“I guess I’m just different,” I say putting my helmet on and getting onto the back of the bike. Right when Josh gets on, my arms wrap around his waist.

“I’m supposing you’re still not going to tell me where we’re going?” I ask. He shakes his head.

“You’ll find out soon enough,” and he leaves the subject by starting his bike and leaving my driveway. It felt so rushing and free to ride on one of these, but I don’t dare let go.
