As the cool morning dew began to evaporate into the warm afternoon air, many small grass type Pokémon began to poke out from the grass. Flocks of Starly graced the skies, soaring high above the Drifloon floating along the wind. People and their partners milled about in the courtyard, smiling, laughing, and eating lunch or sticking their faces in books.
Suddenly, Noelle realized she had zoned out again. She tore her attention away from the window next to her and attempted to refocus on the lesson her teacher was giving her and her classmates. It soon dawned upon her that her teacher was speaking of something different than when she had originally zoned out. Finding zero point in zoning back in completely, she turned her attention to the clock on the opposite side of the wall. Not to her surprise, the class was nearly over.
As Noelle counted the seconds until the class finished, she noticed everyone beginning to pack their bags for their next class. The teacher, clearly having lost his students' attention, sighed in defeat and ended his lesson for the day.
Noelle turned to the girl sitting next to her, "Is it just me or was Mr. Hartman much easier to tune out today?"
The girl chuckled and zipped up her backpack, "Easy for you to say! You could tune out a tornado siren."
"That only happened twice." Noelle argued.
The boy sitting behind Noelle chuckled. She turned around to face him and raised an eyebrow, "What's so funny?"
The boy leaned forward on his desk, "Just seems like twice is two times too many." As the words left his lips, the bell rang.
Noelle and her two companions slung their bags over their shoulders and headed to the cafeteria. They dodged confused freshmen, annoyed sophomores, and stressed juniors in the hallways, trying to make it to the cafeteria with their sanity intact. As they reached their destination, they headed to the back and sat at their usual table.
Noelle tossed her backpack onto the lunch table and it slid across and onto the floor by her seat. She collapsed in her seat next to a girl with fiery red hair in pigtails.
"Hey there Sunshine," the girl greeted, "Fun morning?"
"Jay, I don't need your optimism today." Noelle groaned.
Noelle's two other friends sat down across from her and the boy chuckled, "The fact that you think Jay is optimistic really shows your character."
"Bryce, I will kick you in the shins." Noelle threatened.
The blond smirked, "Kinky."
"Sam, kick him in the shins."
The bluenette next to Bryce kicked him, earning a sharp, "Ow!". The three girls at the table giggled at their male friend's demise.
"Women are demons." He complained.
After quickly finishing their lunch, the group ran outside the allow their Pokémon some air.
Noelle's Luxio and Grotle basked in the sun with Sam's Leafeon. Bryce's Staravia picked at nuts growing on Grotle's back while his and Noelle's Misdreavus tormented Jay's Glameow.
Noelle whistled for her Misdreavus and the ghost type hesitantly floated over to its trainer, ready for its scolding. Deciding not to listen, or even care, it circled around her and used its psychic abilities to undo its trainer's braid. As the Pokémon laughed hysterically, Noelle sighed and attempted to rebraid her hair before the bell rang for her next class.
