She walked through the familiar path, that ran like veins in her memory. This is all she had been doing for the past six months, every evening she would come here and renew her memories which only caused pain to her, but she continues to do this, just because of a little hope that still survives at the back of her heart.
Her legs have begun to hurt from the long walking but she continues until she reaches her destination.
A nowhere in the forest which has a special somewhere in her heart.
'We should stop talking to each other' were his words that cut deep down her heart. and the memory is still like a fresh wound to her.
It was like, when it comes to him, her heart and her brain were in a constant fight to control her, and none had won in the past six months.
The brain was right. She had to let go but did her heart want to? Never actually. She knew that she loved him too much to ever let go. But she also knew how strong willed he was. She knew that he was hell bent in ignoring her, something he has mastered in the last six months and never failed. Yes, he was ignoring her like plague for the last six months and it did not take a week for the entire school to know that Cara and Ace were no longer best friends.
You know this feeling where you feel that something inside you has died, something is empty and no other person except that particular one can fill it, but you know that the person will not return, not in the near future. Cara has been in this state for the last six months. She was breathing but not living. She used to say "I'm wasting oxygen on earth".
The routine in Cara's life was same for the last six months. Wake up, go to school and act normal, not to go back home after school but to a place in the forest, cry her heart out there till its dark, then return home, mostly she would skip dinner and then get locked in her room till the next morning.
Her parents were worried, about her health as well as her mind.
They knew she was depressed and had guessed it was because of Ace. Since, that boy had stopped visiting their house six months before. But that never meant he treated them as strangers, he used to have a small conversation whenever they ran into each other, but not even a glance at Cara. Not a single person except Ace knew the reason behind this. No one knew why he left her so suddenly.
For Cara he was a storm who entered her life all so suddenly but maybe suddenly was what defined him, that is why he also left so suddenly.
If you excuse the sadness of Cara, you will see how angry she was. She was angry with him, he had no right to come into her life and be a major part then leave it all so suddenly. He had no right to hurt her. And lastly he had no right to decide their relationship.
No one comes into your life mistakenly and no one leaves mistakenly.
She thought she had done something wrong. She had done something to hurt him so he was behaving like that but even after wondering that everyday, she never found a fault in her actions.
It was easier for the people to say 'you should move on"," he is not good enough", "he was bored with you" and "he doesn't deserve you" but no one really felt what storm was happening inside her. Everyone thought that she was simply sad because of the loss of a friend but no one understood the fight inside her, no one understood the pain she was under and she knew that no one ever can, they only person who could understand that was himself gone, he himself was responsible for this.
It was not sadness, it was not hurt. It was something she cannot explain, cannot define. It was a feeling of emptiness. A feeling in which heart ached every single time his memories invaded her mind. No one could take his place. No thing could take his place. He was imperfectly perfect to her. To Cara, the definition of Perfection was Ace Henderwildly.she finally reached the top of the cliff but something or rather someone present there made her heart beat wildly
His back was faced to her and there was no other sigh that could indicate her some known identification. 'please don't be him' she silently wished but deep down she knew her heart wanted this person to be him.
She silently approached to person there and then spoke "How did you find this place?" It was funny how the identity did not matter to her, for all she cared was that she never wanted to share this memorable place with any other human.
There was a silence. It seemed that the person was lost in thought but then he suddenly spoke "This place is mine, I am the founder." Cara was shocked and the bag that was in her hands fell down at the broken branch, making a loud sound.
That voice, she can never forget that voice. It was the voice that used to make her smile and also the voice that was the reason of her misery for the last six months. At that moment she knew that it was finally him, the person who was hell bent on ignoring her.
After being met with silence, Ace turned round to look at the person who was invading his personal area, the person who was invading the memorable place of his Cara and him.
But as soon as his eyes fell on the face of this invader, he felt his heart stop for a milli second. In front of him stood the one who had been the very reason of his presence here. The girl whom he had been desperately avoiding for the past 6 months and the girl whom he had been aching to meet. Yes, though he was the one who avoid her, he found it it very difficult to do so, he himself, his soul and everything inside him was aching to run back to her but he never turned back, he knew he had to do so for the reasons best known to him.
A strange feeling ran through him, a combination of both joy and sorrow, but the major feeling was guilt. He was guilty of what he did, it pained him to see her suffer and how she had lost her smile because of him, but once he would be gone, she will be forced to forget his existence and everything will go back to square one.
He let out a small sigh and decided to go away, to leave the place as soon as possible. He proceeded to leave, moved towards her and the path but a hand the held his, stopped him.
"You're not going anywhere, not today!" She said in a dangerously low voice, the voice which he knew was only used when she was upset and angry.
Those words of her were enough make him shocked and surprised at the same time and he stood rooted at the same place.
