Chapter 1

Tori, my best friend, told me this story this morning. Apparently she was in my shoes.

It was a dark, clouded night. All I could see was the street lights at mid-street. I wondered if Tori would ever show. I stared and stared but to no avail. Then suddenly, a darkened, swaying shadow appeared under the street light.

"Tori?!" I yelled, "Is that you?!" No answer. "Tori! I'm not messing around! What do you need?! I want to go home! It's freezing balls out here!" It was mid to late October, and I didn't like the feeling of standing vulnerably out at the end of the street at 12:30 in the morning.

"Tori! Answer me, God damnit! I got up out of bed because you said there was something important! What do you need?!" I yelled as loud as I could. I started walking up the street. As I got closer and closer, I started depicting a shadow, floating in mid-air under the street light. What the hell? Did Tori do something she shouldn't have?

"Tori! Tori! What happened?! What is that?!" I screamed as I ran further, almost to her. When I finally got there, she turned to face me.

"Errynn, I made a mistake. I didn't mean to do it. I really didn't. You believe me, right?"

"Tori, what the hell happened? Why did you call me down her? I live five and a half miles from here, and my bike tires flat! I almost had to walk, until I realized I had one gallon of gas left in my gas tank! I only get twelve miles per gallon! What is so urgent?" I was talking fast from anxiety of what would come next.

"First off, you called for that when you bought your Lamborghini!" She yelled in my face. I had no money on me to fill up with and the nearest gas station is twelve miles away!

"Tori, WHAT HAPPENED?!" She and I both looked up. There hung her neighbors St. Bernard, Payron. He hung there limp and lifeless!

"He wouldn't stop barking! I wanted to sleep! I'm sick! And he just wouldn't shut up!"

"How the hell did you get him up there?!"

"Um. Well..." She hesitated.

"TORI?!" I asked slowly, panicked, and worried.

"I kind of... I don't know... Swished my hand from left to right, and he... Kind of... flew to the right. I ran to my garage and grabbed my Para-cord, and grabbed my new puppies leash..." It started to rain. "I hooked Payron up, stuck him in the backseat of my Camaro, and drove out here. I knew this would be a good place because... Um... There is no civilization out here yet... I swung my hand up, to the right, down, over, and it kind of... Tied itself in a knot next thing I knew, I have a hang noose built, and I threw Payron into it! Total accident!"

"Tori! That's Chase's dog!"

"I know Errynn! I didn't mean to! Tell Chase anything to comfort him, for me. Just don't tell him it was me! I'm taking off for Paris! I'm moving! I don't need to know what would happen to me for this!"

"Well... Um... Untie him at least?" I said, or should I say asked? She brought him down. I realized he was still breathing. "Dude. Tori. Where's your car?"

"I don't remember."

"Well hop in mine and we will take him to the vets! He is still breathing!" We shoved him into the back of my sparkly, cobalt blue with green racing stripes Lamborghini. Tori hopped in my front passenger seat, in which was fuzzy blue zebra striped. I climbed into the identical driver's seat, hit the start button, and threw my keys into the slot in the dashboard. I grabbed hold of my lime green cheetah steering wheel, slammed my foot on the gas and we started flying down the road, from zero to one hundred-five miles per hour in three seconds. We flew onto the freeway and to the plaza about 3 miles from where we were. The vets, was thankfully open. We ran inside, checked Payron in, and ran back out to my car!
