Hours after I arrived at the school, I had been getting my gear ready as today had been the swordsman exam. I watched as each pair of students had been called to dual each other to see who would pass, and who would fail the exam. My sister had been sitting with me as she held her sword close tightly. Just like her, I was nervous as to who I was going to fight. Most of the people I knew here had all had their game faces on and was prepared to fight their opponent.
Soon, I was called by the announcer to enter the field and went to my side of the grounds, standing at my assigned position. They soon announced a boy named Frederick to enter the grounds as well. From what I know about Frederick... He's a total dick. He's pretty much like the royalty who think their better than everyone else, when in reality. They're just a bunch of idiots who don't even know which way is left or right. I held my sword in front and breathed slowly, getting into my stance as I stared at my opponent, thinking about how I am going to take this bastard down.
As soon as the bells had rung, the fight began as Frederick had charged at me with brute force. I had moved to the side and stuck my foot out to trip him. This would of course stagger him til he collapses and I can just end this battle very quickly.
That of course, is what I thought, which sadly that is not how fights work.
He switched his sword to his other hand and slashed at my head which would then knocked off my helmet. A lucky save for me, which sent me staggering a bit. But there's the funny part to it.
I had happened to have had a very light grip to my sword and it had flown out of my hand and into the poor bastards crotch. In a few minutes he came down, clenching his crotch as he cried out, which gave me enough time to get back up and grab my sword. I then rushed him slashed my sword at the back of his neck to render him unconscious, making sure I didn't hit hard to where it would snap his neck. Though I probably would be doing the people a favor if I did do that.
Soon after he had been knocked out, I was declared the winner and went inside the main building to the classroom where we all waited for the rest of the winners. While everyone had been chatting away, I was patiently waiting for my sister to come as she was my only way of entertainment. I looked out the window to see the mountains that were in the horizon. That was when my sister snuck up behind me and held me close from behind. "Hey brother, hope you wasn't too lonely." Silica smiled. Though she can be a nuisance, she always keeps me company at school.
Little did we know however, that her smile, our home, and everyone's way of life, would soon drastically change within the night. As the stench of blood slowly comes to us.
