Just Friends ; Chaelisa

"Thanks for coming with me to the airport." Jennie smiles.

"No problem.  I know you might need some help from guns like these." Lisa says, flexing her biceps.

"Uh-huh."

"What time is your friend getting in?"

"Fifteen minutes, maybe?" Jennie checks her phone.  "Ah, there's her flight number on the screen." she points to the screen above the baggage carousel.

"Okay cool, I'm gonna go use the bathroom."

"Wait!  No!  The line is long.  What if she comes and you're not here."

"Why would I need to be here?  She's your friend, plus, if you need me to lift a bag or something, just text me."

Jennie chews on her bottom lip for a little bit before sighing and nodding her head.  "Alright, go to the bathroom."

"Thank you.  I'll be back soon."

Lisa jogs over to the bathroom and gets into the line that snakes out of the door.

Jennie's phone pings.

[roses_are_rosie] Plane just landed.  Should be at baggage claim in 15 mins.

[jennierubyjane] Yay!  I'm so excited to see you again!

[roses_are_rosie] Me too!  And I can't wait to meet this girlfriend of yours ;)

[jennierubyjane] And I can't wait for you to see your girlfriend again

[roses_are_rosie] I told you that's not what I'm here for!  I'm here for a job interview!

[jennierubyjane] Uh-huh. Whatever.  Get here quick.

15 minutes pass and by now Jennie's sitting on one of the benches near the carousels.  Lisa hasn't come out of the bathroom yet, and Chaeyoung's going to be here any minute.  She wants Lisa to be the first thing her friend sees when she comes down the escalator, but it looks like that plan may be flushing down the drain.

"Your friend here ye-"

"AH!" Jennie lets out a girlish scream as she flies off the bench in terror.  "Jesus!  Warn a girl!"

"Sorry." Lisa mumbles.

"No, she's not here yet, should be soon though."

Lisa sits on the bench next to Jennie and blows a few puffs of air out of her mouth. She and Jennie aren't too close, because Lisa's only been living in the states for a little while, and the only reason she came was because Jennie said she needed help and Jisoo was already at work.

"So uh, the weather's been nice huh?" Lisa offers.

"Yeah, hot, though."

"Very hot.  And humid."

"Yeah."

Another awkward beat of silence.  Lisa claps her hands together a couple times and fidgets with her fingers.

"So how are you and Jisoo?"

"Oh we're great, yeah, I love her a lot."

"That's good.  Jisoo was one of my best friends back home, I'm glad that she found someone she loves as well."

"What about you?  Anyone special in your life?"

"Not right now, but I know I want to settle down here.  I've wanted to live in New York since I was a little girl."

"Mm.  Jisoo told me you had someone back in Korea."

"I mean, not really, we never actually dated, but I guess we had something."
