I swear to you, there are divine things more beautiful than words can tell.
~Walt Whitman.
Autumn was sitting in a field on a simple pastel pink and yellow cotton blanket, her red hair swept to the side in a French braid and held together with a black hair tie.
She turned the page of her book and sat with her legs crossed and her German Shepherd, Lilah, in her lap, the brown and black dog sleeping soundly as the other two, Titan and Magenta, played nearby with a stick she picked up a few months after she adopted them when they were puppies.
She giggled as the main character of the book she was reading did something clumsy, which she felt as though she could relate to. Autumn wasn't an extremely clumsy person, just sometimes she did things that some would consider clumsy while she considered it as she got off balance.
She closed the book and pet Lilah's fur, watching the area around her. True, that there was one huge light grey blue nose pit bull that was only about twenty feet away, and two German Shepard's around her as well. But, she couldn't exactly say she felt especially safe out in the open, even if it was in the own little flower field she created in her backyard.
Yes, with her “abilities”, she created a very spacious field full of flowers, each row a different color. Nature was something she enjoyed, except for her fear of thunderstorns. But, that wasn't her biggest concern everyday. She came to this field often and used, on average, two of her four powers.
Her first power was controlling plants. She can manipulate their growth, what plants grow, and what color they are. All she had to do was think it, and it appeared. Sometimes, she likes to make them appear in her hand and place them around as decoration.
Her next ability was manipulating water. There was a lake nearby, which took her forever to make because she had to wait for the rain to fill it up before it became full, which wasn't a long wait, since it rains often where she's from. But, once she's near water, she can control how it moves. If she willed it to float in thin air and take the shape of a heart, it would.
Then, you have ice powers, which she finds incredibly useful on a hot day in the summer, but the season was a few months away. With it only being the middle of April, she was glad she didn't have to drain herself by using her powers to cool herself of. But, she's also glad she could sit outside in the cool air and relax.
Telekinesis, her fourth and final gift. Moving things with her mind is sort of Autumn's specialty. And, she did try to fill the lake up with this power, but it took to long and she decided to let Mother Nature to handle it. She can't lift living things, such as animals and people. Only objects.
She heard the barking of Titus and snapped out of her dreamlike daze and looked to where his attention was. It was on a small rabbit, and she whistled for him to come to where she was. She hated bloodshed, even from her own dogs. The sight of blood made her sick to her stomach, and she couldn't handle it.
Titan came running over and licked her face before sitting next to her. Magenta was rolling around where Autumn grew some Basil flowers. She stood and gathered the book and blanket before clicking her teeth and running back into the house. All three dogs chased her, running at full speed just as she was.
Her werewolf qualities only adding to her fears. She fears that with being two species at once, elven and werewolf, will come with danger. And, don't even get her started on the silver blood that flowed through her veins. Since she doesn't know where her parents are, she can't be given answers. She's had human parents her whole life.
It was only when she was around sixteen did her adoptive parents gave her a letter saying that she wasn't human. But, by then she had already started developing her gifts and she had her first shift. Now, at the age of twenty-four, she has a job, a trio of dogs she considers children, and a nice house.
She saw her back porch and slowed down to a jog, letting them pass and get to it before she did. She laughed and jumped to the porch, opening the door and all three scrambled in, the sound of their claws on the wooden floors made Autumn flinch slightly at the sound before sighing and shutting the door.
She placed the blanket in the laundry room for her to wash it later and the book back on the living room shelf. She took her camouflage green jacket off and hung it up in the closet. She took her black combat boots off and sat them by the front door and refilled the food and water bowls before going to get a nice shower...
