I ignore him and continue to walk to the Arcade. Maybe I'll play some Space Invaders..

Freddy stops me by grabbing my wrist. I stop.

"What's wrong, Bonnie?" I turn as cold as ice. "I don't know; maybe I ate too much cake." I spit words as bitter as expired milk.

"Hey, I didn't mean it. It was just a joke for the kids at your expense. I'm sorry."

I turn around to look him into the blueberry eyes and I melt into water and want him to hold on forever.

But he lets go.

When he's around I feel electrified. I feel like I've been plugged into an amp. I wanna paint the town. I want to bounce off the walls. I want to shout. I can screech like my electric guitar.

But in that intimate moment, I became an acoustic guitar. Tender strings. Completely and utterly mellowed out and content.

I stalk off and go to sulk. Why must I be so cold? I wish I had my emotional support guitar but I don't want to risk running into anyone.

I hear dainty footsteps and my name being called as soon as I settle into my sulking spot.

"Bonnie! We're finally getting a new night guard!" She chirps.

This could be interesting. The last night guard didn't like me too much. He closed the door on my foot. I just hope this one spooks easily.

"Neat."

"I bet he's a screamer! This is going to be so much fun!" She hands me my guitar. "C'mon, let's hit the stage. He'll be here any minute!" She squeals.

"Yeah," I repeat. "This is going to be so much fun."
