Jaren's POV

"People are staring." I mumble under my breath, glancing around the cafeteria.

"It's because I never sit without my friends. New things for everyone." John replies, grinning over at me.

"How's Eric?" I ask, looking back over at the grinning male.

"Unfortunately he's still retarded, but he'll survive." John replies, sighing dramatically.

I roll my eyes and chuckle, my eyes wandering over to Luke's table.

Brian is there, a few bandaids on his face, slight bruises already forming.

My eyes drift over to Jonathan.

I always imagined Luke as the leader of their little friend group, but apparently it's actually Jonathan.

I mean, I can totally see it.

Jonathan has this tall and muscular build, like Luke, but he seems more confident.

He has jet black hair, cut somewhat short and gelled up. He has a nose piercing, which is just a black hoop and he has the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen.

He's very attractive, a jawline that could probably cut you.

His boyfriend Evan isn't as muscular and is actually very lean. He's got a sort of fo-hawk going on, and he has Asian features.

He's Canasian, which is dope, and he has dark brown eyes.

They seem to run the group.

Their whole aura reeks of popularity.

The line-back and the striker. A complete power couple in my opinion.

John snaps his fingers in front of my face, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Brian looks like he'll murder your entire family if you keep staring." John states, slurping on his slushie.

"I feel so bad." I mumble, looking down at the table as a wave of guilt washes over me.

"He probably deserved it." John hums out, probably rolling his eyes.

"No one deserves to be beat up." I whisper, shivering at the thoughts now swarming my head.

"You wanna talk about it?" John questions quietly. I bring my head up to stare him in the eyes, to read him.

"Like I've said before, where I'm from, being gay is not acceptable. Kids at my school were ruthless, vicious and downright disgusting creatures. I was beaten up daily, sometimes worse." I grumble out, gulping down the heavy lump in my throat.

"Give me names and I'll hunt them down." He says, and I can't help but laugh slightly.

"Tempting." I joke, still gazing into his eyes.

"Hey lover-birds." Someone greets, before promptly sitting down besides me.

"What's up, Griz?" John asks, glancing between him and I.

"I just wanted to come hang, is that alright?" He replies, looking between me and John strangely.

"Not really." I grunt out, sending him a slight glare.

"Lighten up dude. It was just a small prank." Griz says, rolling his eyes and putting an arm around my shoulders.

I tense up at this and feel an urge, much like earlier when I punched Brian, rising up.

"Sorry Griz, Just us today." John says, warmly glancing at me.

"Dude, come on." Griz complains, rolling his eyes for the umpteenth time.
