third person POV:

she was carving words out in a tree with a sharp blade, sometimes accidentally nicking at her skin.

patrick saw her, and from behind, she looked pretty to him. patrick felt something weird in his stomach, and he was confused. he had never felt something like that before, he doesn't usually feel much.

he walked towards her, her beautiful h/c hair shining in the glare of the sun.

he stood a foot or two behind her, reading sad words she had written beautifully in the wood, but one quote struck his eye.

"some nights, i cry, and i cry and cry and cry, hoping that one day you'll follow my river of tears back to me"

he furrowed his eyebrows and said "who do you want to come back?" making her jump.

"god, you scared me" she turned around, looking at him, her mouth almost watering at the view.

he had been her crush for years, and most people thought she was weird for that. he was a sociopath, and he was pretty much crazy.

she still thought he was unique, something different from the rest, and that's what she loved about him. he was so different, he wasn't like all the guys that were on the football team, or the guys that chased all the girls. sure, he was in one of the biggest gangs of bullies derry had ever known, but that's only made him well known, not popular.

"i'm um, i'm y/n" she spoke with a smile, making pat's heart tingle, he had no idea why though.

"i'm patrick, patrick hockstetter" "oh, i know, you're in bowers' gang right?" he chuckled and nodded, "yeah."

she nodded and said "well, i've seen you around, you're pretty cool" he smiled, no one had ever called him cool.

"do you wanna go on a date with me?" he blurted out, causing y/n to blush. "i probably didn't ask that right, um, do you wanna go out with me sometime? is that better?"

she giggled, making him smile. "i'd love to go on a date with you, tomorrow night i'm free"

he looked down, then looked up at her, "can we do it right now? i don't really wanna wait, i'll
start thinking and get super nervous, not that i'm not nervous right now i just-" "yes, pat, we can go now" she spoke with a giggle.

he smiled, and extended his hand for her to take.

she smiled and took it, his hand was way bigger than hers by a lot.

"i'm guessing this is your first date?" she asked as they walked, and he nodded. "is it yours?" she smiled and nodded, "yeah. i haven't told anyone this but, i've had a crush on you for a while."

he grinned, "seriously?" she nodded. "never thought a girl would get a crush on me" he chuckled and she smiled, "well now you know."

they walked to a black motorcycle, and he sat on it, handing her a black helmet.

she stood there in shock, her jaw dropped. "this yours, hockstetter?"

he nodded, flipping some hair out of his face, making her heart race.

"well? you gonna hop on or not?"
