"What would you do if I died?"
"I would cry. I wouldn't be able to eat. I wouldn't be able to sleep. I'd be left with the endless storm of questions, "What could I of done?" "Is it my fault?" "What did they do to deserve this?"
"Would you really care? Do you really care?"
"So much. More than you know."
"Really?"
"Definitely."
And then they left.
And I cried. I cried and I cried and I cried until eventually, crying became as regular as breathing. I couldn't hold my food down. And at the middle of the night, where all were asleep, I spent my time thinking, "What could I of done?"
"Is it my fault?"
"What did they do to deserve this?"
"Why did they go...."
I stared at the empty abyss of the dark until it felt like instead, it was looking at me.
"Do you really care?"
"More than you know..."
