It was nearly nightfall. Because Astra had been invited to the Eeveelution Squad and it was very likely that Finn wasn't going to be invited, she knew she couldn't sneak out as easily anymore without being found out, especially if there is sure to be an Umbreon, a nocturnal Eeveelution, in the residence. Because of this, she decides to meet with Finn for what may be the last time they'll ever get a chance to see each other. As she approaches the shore, it seemed he was nowhere to be found. However, given their last few encounters, she knew that he's hiding in the water, so she simply called out to him. "Come out, Finn. I'm here." she said. Shortly, a pool of water began to slither towards her and materialized into a Vaporeon. Without a doubt, this particular Vaporeon was Finn. "Aww, I was hoping to play a trick on you again. You looked so cute when you're frightened." Finn teased. Sporting a pouting expression, Astra gave him a light, yet faintly playful slap. "Shut up." she responded, though couldn't help but giggle a bit.
"So how have you been, my shooting star? Anything new?" Finn asks her affectionately as they sit down and stare at the sunset. Only now remembering that her time with him is about to end, she frowns and casts her eyes down at the sand. "Y-yeah..." she stuttered. "One day, I'm moving out. I don't know when but when I do, I don't think I'll get to see you again." she continued. "Moving where?" Finn asked curiously. "I'm sure we can make some arrangements depending on where you're going." Finn said with a reassuring tone. "I don't know." Astra replied as she shook her head. "You don't even know where you're going to move to?" Finn questioned, cocking his head to the side. Astra shook her head. "It's kind of hard to explain but have you had anyone come up to you and invited you to an 'Eeveelution Squad'?" she asked, hopeful that he had been invited by Pearl. "What's Eeveelution Squad?" he responded, clearly having no clue about it. Astra sighed deeply, with her eyes still downcast and said, "Never mind." Finn scoots closer to her and attempts to console her with a smile. "Hey, it's okay. Even though you'll be gone soon, I'll always remember you. And we can always make the best of what time we have left." he said comfortingly. Astra looks up at him, yet still frowning. "Don't give me that face. You know you're so much prettier when you smile. So, if you please." Finn pleads. Slightly struggling, she gives him a light smile back.
Still wanting to get to know him better, Astra asks, "So, what made you decide to evolve into a Vaporeon?" Finn shakes his head. "To start, I didn't decide for myself." he began. "It just sort of happened when I was drowning. After I evolved, my dad told me that inside my pendant was a Water Stone that was supposed to trigger an evolution if I was ever going to get into this exact situation. He told me that my mom apparently 'foresaw my death' in this exact same way, which was when she got a friend to help make my pendant. But one thing I still don't get is how she could have seen it coming way ahead of time, even if we never saw each other." Finn explained. "Not that I'm complaining. I never really decided what I wanted to evolve into myself. Plus, this thing saved my life so I really can't be mad at what I am now even if I did want to evolve into something else." he finished, before asking his love interest curiously, "What about you, doll face? What did you have in mind back then?"
"Well... for a long time, I wanted to evolve into an Umbreon. To me, they just look gorgeous. Plus, it's what my mom wanted me to evolve into as well." Astra replied. "But... something happened that made me want to evolve into a Jolteon instead." she continued. Listening intently, Finn asks, "What happened?" Astra looks away as she momentarily goes silent. "C'mon. Don't be shy." Finn insisted. "Well... it's a long story... and it's pretty embarrassing." she replied. "But... if you insist..."
Her story started approximately nine years ago, months after she and her brother, both of them as Eevees, lost their parents and managed to escape the assassins. The setting was during a rainy evening, lightning striking at nearly every minute, and the sound of thunder crashing down with it. While it was quite common for one to be afraid of thunderstorms, Astra's fear of them was much more exaggerated. On that night, Astra held on tightly to her stuffed Flareon as she sniffled, shuddering to the horrendous weather, looking back and forth at the window frequently. "Whoa! It's raining super hard! I've never seen anything like it before!" Sage gasped. All Astra could do was mewl sad "vee" sounds or sniffle in response as she continued to look at the window. Noticing her behavior, Sage walks up to her to try to comfort her. In an instant, she pounced him, clinging onto him tightly. "Big brother, I... I'm scared!" she cried. "There, there. It's gonna be over soon." he says while gently trying to push her off. She's been like this ever since that incident, he thought. Shortly after, thunder crashes once again, this time being louder than normal, implying lightning struck extremely close to their area. Unfortunately, this had also caused a blackout to occur, as the lights immediately go off. Astra jumps, shrieks and hides in a corner, not because of the dark, but rather because of the loud noise of thunder. Even Sage was spooked for he began to dig into his bag, which once belonged to his father, desperately to try to find a light source they could use temporarily. "Where's the flashlight?" he panicked. As he dug into his bag, he tossed many of its contents, including a Thunder Stone, which glowed faintly in the dark, enough for them to see but not quite bright enough to use as a light source.
Upon realizing that there is no flashlight in the bag, Sage aimlessly makes his way around the house to try to find it. As soon as he leaves, Astra slowly crawls out of hiding and stares at the Thunder Stone. As she approaches it, the sound of thunder occurs once again. Though she was still frightened by the sound, it was not enough for her to run back into hiding again, and instead she continues to approach the stone. Due to being a possible Thunder Stone candidate, she felt that the stone was somehow calling to her. The closer she was to it, the more of its warm energy she felt from it. I'm supposed to evolve when I use this, right? She thought to herself, looking behind her and back at the stone. I wanted to evolve into an Umbreon... but... I... I'm sick of being scared of thunderstorms! She continued in her mind. She lifted her paw but stopped. She looked behind her and back at the stone once again, still quite unsure if she wants to evolve. However, she was fixated on trying to get rid of her Astraphobia, thinking becoming a Jolteon would suppress her fear. Resolutely as she closed her eyes, she placed her paw on the stone. Shortly after, she began to glow white as her body began to change. As the bright light surrounding her had faded, she was an Eevee no more and had now become a Jolteon. Due to the light she had emitted while evolving, Sage quickly ran to it, thinking that his little sister had found a light source. Upon running back into the living room, there was no light, but rather a Jolteon in front of him. Because he and his sister had been the only ones in the house, he quickly assumed this particular Jolteon was her. "A-Astra?!" he shouted with surprise.
