You felt a shiver run down your spine as the cold wind seeped in through the seams of your coat, your hands rubbing together to create warmth like sticks would to spark a fire.
The frosty white air touched the skins of many and tainted them with thin layers of pink. A blanket of snow covered everything as far as the eye could see, and the soft, pillow-like texture gave off a warm feeling. The cold, white substance seemed to have deceived you, leaving you wondering if there could ever exist a blanket softer than snow.
You scolded yourself for forgetting to bring your mittens, grumbling softly under your breath. You walked into the cafe, your current workplace, and sighed merrily as the heat washed over you. The smell of coffee and sweet pastries filled your nostrils almost as much as the scent filled your heart with joy. Being a barista wasn't an easy job, but the aesthetics of it all seemed to make up for a good number of the hardships. That, and the sense of security that it offered to not only you, but to everyone who walked in. It was a warm, welcoming, and calming environment; it was a home away from home.
You loved working there. You were never once late for your shift, and though you liked to say that it was because of your feelings of compassion and adoration towards the place, your coworkers didn't believe a word you had to say.
"Bullshit," laughed Seokjin after you explained this to him for what felt like the billionth time. "You just don't want to miss a chance to stare at Coconut Boy."
"Would you stop calling him that?" You rolled your eyes. "His name is Jungkook."
"Wow, you know his name? Are you sure you two aren't moving too fast?" He snickered, earning a petty shove from you.
"Shut up."
It would take the slow and agonising pain of needles embedding themselves into each of your vital organs to get you to admit it, but your big mouthed friend was right. The only reason why you knew 'Coconut Boy's' name was because you had to write it on his coffee cup when he took it to go.
It had been six months since the tall, muscular, and pretty faced boy had walked into the coffee shop. Six months since he strolled in wearing a bucket hat that nearly covered his big, doe eyes that reminded you of dollops of freshly brewed coffee in cream. Maybe it was the poet in you who had come up with such an analogy, or maybe you had been working in the barista business for far too long- but no matter the reason, you were just thankful that the hat didn't hide the first thing about him that made your heart flutter.
You were in the midst of making an iced latte when you felt someone poke your arm, turning your head to see the soft, teasing smile of your black haired friend.
"He's here. I'll take care of this for you," he grinned contagiously, your lips curling into a smile of your own. "Go get him, tiger,"
You skipped to the cash register excitedly. Your heart felt like it could play the role of an acrobat in a circus, its frantic spiralling in your chest making you dizzy.
There he was, standing in line with two customers in front of him. As you took the first two orders, your cheeks couldn't help but burn red at the sight of the man who had caught your attention, and didn't seem to have any plans of letting go of it, standing with his head bowed down towards the ground, white airpods stuck firmly in his cute little ears. He stared mindlessly at his feet as they shuffled against the tiled floor, his head tilting side to side in little movements as if to the beat of the music he was listening to. Your insides screamed out in softness when you noticed his lips were slightly puckered, and it took every bit of the willpower you had left to not tackle him into a fit of cuddles right then and there.
"Um...miss?" said the customer in front of you. You broke out of your trance, cursing under your breath,
"I-I'm sorry, what was your order again?"
