"I'm home!" Kaitlyn called as she stepped through the door. "Sorry I'm late."

No sooner than she sat down on the couch, Iris came running down the hallway meowing. He jumped into her lap and rubbed his head against her cheek as she laughed.

"How was work?" I asked as I set the remote down on the coffee table. "Any kids give you hell today?"

I was trying to make small talk because I was extremely nervous. I had found the perfect engagement ring, and I wanted to propose to Kaitlyn back when I had my show, but when we fought, I decided to put it on hold. We've been amazing since we made up, so I think it's finally time.

"Work was okay," she laughed as she scratched Iris's head between his ears. "The kids were actually pretty good. Our closer called in, and I had to stay," she pouted.

"Why do people get jobs if they're just going to call in?" I chuckled as I ran a hand through my hair. "It's stupid."

Kaitlyn leaned over and kissed my cheek before laying her head on my shoulder.

"Because they're irresponsible teenagers who don't know how life works," she said as she grabbed her phone. "Rachel and Gerald got the nursery done, and it's adorable. I can't believe they only have a little over eight weeks until Rosie gets here."

"She's already seven months pregnant?" I asked, a little shocked. "And they still haven't announced it?"

Kaitlyn shook her head as we went through the photos that Rachel had sent her.

"No," she said as she zoomed in on one of them to see the pictures on the wall. "I think they're waiting until Rosie is born because she's enjoyed getting to keep the pregnancy private, and I don't blame her."

I played with her hair as I listened to her talk, but I zoned out as I started thinking of our life together, and what would happen if she said no.

"Yeah," I said as I bit down on my lip. "Are you hungry? I actually cooked dinner this time instead of ordering in."

"Really?" She asked with a laugh as she tilted her head back on the couch and looked up at me. "What did you make?"

"Chinese food," I beamed. "My mom sent me her recipes for chicken fried rice, orange chicken and crab rangoon. I spent all day on it, and I hope it doesn't taste like shit."

She smirked as she leaned up and kissed my cheek before hopping up off the couch.

"I'll be the judge of that," she laughed as I smacked her ass while following her. "You've cooked a few times before, and I'm still alive to tell the tale."

As I followed her into the kitchen, I remembered that I had another kitten upstairs with a collar and a tag that read "will you marry my daddy?" and I'm surprised that he was staying quiet, and thankful because it would've blown the whole thing.

"This looks so good," Kaitlyn complimented as she reached into the cabinet and grabbed two plates. "You spent all day cooking for me?"

"I'm nice once in a while," I winked as she rolled her eyes. "What do you want to drink?"

"A Sprite," she answered as she put food on both plates.

I went to the fridge and got our drinks, and stopped when I saw two plates on the table.

"You didn't have to get my food," I laughed as I sat down across from her. "I could've gotten it."

She shrugged as she took the can of Sprite from me, opening it and taking a sip.

"Grady, it's just food," she laughed as she picked up the fork. "Oh, my God," she said with a slight moan after putting a piece of chicken in her mouth. "Grady, this is so good."

"Really?" I asked, tilting my head to the side. "It doesn't make you want to vomit?"

"No," she giggled as she continued to eat her food. "You did really good."

We ate dinner and talked about Kaitlyn's day at work: how one kid ate glue, another pooped on the slide, another had a meltdown because he couldn't color at naptime. There was never a dull day.

As we were washing dishes, I knew then was the chance to make my escape.

"I'm gonna go grab something upstairs," I said as I kissed her cheek. "You can pick a movie if you want to."

I ran up the stairs and into our bedroom, smiling when I saw the kitten staring at me from our bed. I picked him up and slowly tip-toed down the stairs, setting him down at the bottom.

"Go on," I whispered as I pushed him gently. "Go to Kaitlyn."

After a few seconds of staring at me, the kitten turned around and walked into the living room. He started meowing loudly when he got to the couch.

"Well, hi," Kaitlyn laughed as she bent down to pick him up. "What's your name?"

"I found him while I was out riding my board earlier," I lied as I went into the living room. "I figured we could keep him."

"He looks like Iris's twin," she laughed as she scooped him into her lap. "You've got a tag, buddy."

While she was reading it, I pulled the small velvet box out of my back pocket and slowly stepped closer to her.

"Hm," she said as she held him up to get a better look at the tag. "'Will you marry my daddy?'" she read aloud before snapping her head up and looking at me. "What?!"

I quickly got down on one knee and opened up the ring box, causing her to gasp.

"Grady!" She laughed as she covered her face as she started to cry. "What?!"

"Kaitlyn," I said as I held the box in one hand before taking her hand into my other. "From the moment I first met you, even though you hated me, I knew you were going to be the one for me. We started hanging out, building a connection, and look where we are now...living together. I know that you've made an impact on my life and made me realize that I'm ready to finally settle down and that it's you who I want to do that with...will you make that dream happen for me and marry me?"

As tears silently fell down her cheeks, she nodded quickly and watched as I slipped the diamond ring onto her finger.

"Yes, Grady, yes!" She cheered as she pulled me up to kiss me. "Oh, my God, I can't believe this," she laughed as she wiped her eyes, fanning her face.

"Surprised?" I asked with a laugh as I watched her look down at her ring. "I thought the kitten could help me."

"You caught me off guard!" She giggled as she punched my arm before looking down at the kitten. "But you did pick a super cute little dude to add to our family."

It felt like a weight had just been lifted off my shoulders. I was so relieved that Kaitlyn agreed to marry me.

"I can't wait to be your husband," I smiled as I kissed the side of her head, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"And I can't wait to be your wife."
