CARSON'S POV
Friday quickly rolled around and I found myself in my room trying to figure out what to wear.

I know it's a date so you're supposed to look somewhat presentable.

But it's also my boss.

Who thinks I'm really attractive.

I stand in front of my closet throwing clothes left and right.

After what feels like four hours, I decide on an off the shoulder crop top and ripped jeans with fishnets underneath.

I finish getting ready and look back at the mess I made.

"I'll clean this later." I say.

I grab the cake I made earlier and get in my car.

When I plug my phone into the aux, the first song to play is Speechless by Dan + Shay.

I smile to myself as I drive to his house.

Maybe it's a girl thing, but it makes me feel amazing knowing that Luke is speechless around me.

I pull up in front of his house as I check myself one more time in the mirror.

I take a deep breath as I walk up to his porch.

I ring his door bell as my pulse quickens when I hear his footsteps.

"Carson, you look-wow. That's all I've got." He said.

"Thank you, Luke. You don't look too bad yourself." I said as I hugged him.

"Oh and you bought a cake!" He exclaimed.

"I was always taught to never come into a house empty handed." I said.

"Oh, yeah. Please come in." He said taking the cake from me and putting it on the counter.

"I was just finishing up when I heard the door." He said.

"What'd you make?" I asked.

"Salmon and Spanish rice. Aka the only thing I know how to make besides pasta and frozen dinners." He said.

I laughed.

"I can show you how to cook one day." I said.

"Are we already talking about a second date?" He asked.

"Hold your horses, Korns. Let's see how tonight goes." I laughed.

"Alright, alright." He chuckled.

I helped him set the table and put the food on plates.

"This is really good, Luke." I said.

"Oh thank God you like it." He said relieved.

"Do I really make you that nervous?" I asked.

"Like a little bit. I know I'm the manager of basically a Hooters, but I'm also a big nerd. So I don't really know how to act around women. As you can tell, I fake it pretty much all the time." He said.

"Oh. Well I think you're doing great. You're more flirty over text though." I said.

"It's because I'm not face to face with you." He said.

"I don't mean it in a bad way! You're just so cute and I'm so geeky!" He rambled.

"It's fine, Luke. I get it." I smiled.

We talked more as we finished his delicious food.

"What makes you think you're so geeky?" I asked.

"Don't get me wrong I absolutely love being the manager of a Hooters," he said sarcastically. "But I really love film and video. Like making things, you know? I have a YouTube channel that I invest all my time in when I'm not at the restaurant." He said.

"That's amazing, Luke." I smiled.

"Thanks, Carson. What about you, Ms. Teacher?" He asked.

"I've wanted to be a teacher since I was an eighth grade. I've always wanted to help people. So I love subbing." I said.

"General education or special education?" He asked.

"Special." I said.

"You just continue to fascinate me, Cars." He said.

"You're too kind." I blushed.

"I've got another question. When I hugged you the other day, why'd you tense up?" He asked.

"Um. I really don't think I'm ready to share that story yet. Maybe on another date." I said.

"Carson May Clifford, did you just suggest a second date?" He asked.

"Did you just use my full name?" I asked.

"Yes." He said.

"Then yes. I just suggested a second date." I smiled.

"Awesome. What does this make us?" He asked.

"How about, close friends. Not boyfriend and girlfriend. Yet." I said.

"Yet?" He asked.

"Yeah. Yet." I smiled.

"I like the sound of that." He smiled widely.

"Thank you for everything tonight, Luke. I really appreciate it." I said.

"Anytime. I'll text you later." He said as I went to hug him.

I drive home with the biggest smile on my face.

I ignore the mess on my floor as I flop down happily on my bed.
