"Thomas. We need to get going if we plan on picking up your father from the airport. You know it's a 3-hour drive." The 12 year old boy looked up to his mother. He had brown hair like hers, and hazel eyes like his father. His skin tan like both of his parents. He was average height, average weight, and an average kid. He had 2 parents that loved him and took care of him. He went to school, had friends, and played baseball. His life was nearly perfect.
"But mom! I was guna go play with Jeff and Henry." Thomas looked up to his mothers icy blue eyes and continued whining. "Come on. I've stayed home alone before." His mother looked down to him and raised her hands to her hips.
"No. You haven't seen your father all week and I'm sure he wants to see you as soon as he steps off of that plane." His mother was stern and slightly scary, in a good way of course. Thomas groaned and huffed off to the garage and slid into the car. He glared out the window angrily and silently.
The radio passed an hour of time by but his mother wanted to talk. "You know Thomas, you're grades are really going well and Mr. Johnson even recommend you be taken another year ahead in math and science." Thomas kept his stare out the window at the passing trees staying silent. Giving up, his mother turned the radio back on as the sun started to set.
