Breakfast with Harry had turned out to be very revealing - thanks to Vic's relentless interrogatory skills - yet at the same time, he was still such a mystery. He was so different from anybody I'd ever met, yet I just couldn't put my finger on how. He just had something about him.. something so painfully intriguing, yet at the same time a part of me knew that allowing our friendship to develop further was just a bad idea. He didn't seem like the most compassionate of people, but then again, I couldn't determine that just yet. If I wanted to, I'd have to continue being his friend, which in all honesty - I wanted to. That intrigue; that allure was drawing me to him, and I'd be lying to say I wasn't beginning to crave the feeling of his eyes on me.Since earlier on when he'd admitted that he, in the same way I had, had been staring, I'd been desperate to catch him doing so. But, my attempts had been fruitless, and I couldn't help but feel he was doing that on purpose - simply to get me all wound up. Realistically, if I allowed all of his attempts to mess with my head turn out successful, then I'd be driven mad before the following week even began. Whether I liked it or not, he had that odd, questionable power over me, and he knew it, too.
I didn't know where Harry was staying. When we'd all parted ways following breakfast, he'd taken another route, differing to the rest of us. For that very reason, I presumed he was staying on the other side of town, which would have been where his uncle lived. That side of town - if I was correct - was the wealthy part, and it wouldn't shock me to find out that was where Harry possessed relations to. In fact - it was a very wealthy part, which would have explained why I didn't know of his uncle's name. The terraced houses along those roads were three-storeys high, all painted smoothly and in pristine shape. They didn't differ incredibly from the rest of town, but it was still pretty prominent that people who lived in those houses rather than ours were of much greater wealth.
I wondered if we'd see where Harry was staying eventually. If he was deepening relations with my friends and I, I didn't see much of a reason why he'd keep us away from his house. Especially considering the fact he'd revealed that his stay was near enough becoming indefinite. He'd decided he would be 'sticking around for a bit', and I couldn't help but wonder what had swayed that decision. If he'd only wanted to stay temporarily, then what could've made him want to stay in town? We didn't have much to offer such a character - I loved our town, regardless, but I was most definitely biased considering it was all I knew, and so I couldn't see much reason Harry would want to settle here.
It was just after six when I padded back into my bedroom, a towel wrapped around my body after exiting the shower. I reached for my nightgown, dropping my towel and slipping it over my body, reaching for my comb as I took a seat at my vanity.
I heard the phone ring from the other room as I dragged the comb through my damp hair, ignoring it as I heard my mum pick it up and answer. I crossed one leg over the other, pushing my remaining thoughts of Harry out of my mind. Truthfully, I didn't like feeling this way - I most definitely didn't like feeling it about somebody who was basically a stranger. I barely knew him, yet he was clouding and occupying my every though - it was irrational and it was something odd that I didn't feel obliged to adapt to.
I was combing through the final tangle in my hair when I heard my mum's call from the other room - "Blair! The phone is for you - pick it up on your end, would you?"
I frowned. What could Vic be calling about now? We'd only separated a few hours ago - what possibly could've gone down since then? I stood up, wandering over to where my phone was connected to the wall, and I picked it up.
"Vic? What's going on?"
"Not quite," a voice much deeper than Vic's came back in response, and I felt my stomach somersault at the sound. "Hope I didn't disappoint."
