When Life Choose to Hate You

Thunder clapped as white light filled my vision and faint screams in the backgrounds but I just loved the way those thunder bolt rolled down. Mesmerized in its audacity and then everything was blurry as if rain has covered everything then slowly slowly it became dark to the point one cannot even feel the light once present. Silent whispers as if prayers were sung in the backgrounds but seemed to be coming from far away. Then BANG!!

I woke up to cold sweat beading my forehead and slightly breathless from the dream when another BANG! Shocked me. The bang was enough of a warning of what was coming. "Life you better be awake and making my breakfast." Watt aka Father screamed in his slurry voice.

I scrambled out of the bed running downstairs to quickly finish making the breakfast or I might become a fried egg before getting into the college.

I have applied for all the college's that could accept me. Which includes most of them since I kept my grades high so I could quickly escape my life to start a new one.

Serving the breakfast on the table and I tried to rush to my room but was harshly dragged down the stairs. I silently sweared at my luck.

"Where are you going bitch? You can't get away from the punishment you skipped yesterday. You deserve every single one of those beating since you are Worthless and unwanted yet here we are." He screamed in his slurred voice and his breath stink of alcohol and just like that a punch to my stomach was delivered.

I stumbled but hold my stand, this agitated him even more. A series of punches and kicks to stomach made me weak and I fell to the ground yet no tears stained my cheeks. After he was satisfied with his work he grabbed the breakfast and took it to his room leaving me sprawled across the floor.

Yet it was a rule to clean the mess up. I slowly creeped to a wall stood up using it. I have gotten used to it but still the pain cannot be nullified. My ribs were sore and bruises will soon be covering my whole front. Yet it didn't matter.

A few blood splotches the floor, quickly mopping it I made myself upto my room. It wasn't much of a room since it was the attic.

A broken cupboard, a creaking bed with a very thin mattress. A small night stand made of old cardboards. Yet the most comfortable place in the room was near the window where a stack of old clothes lie in stack to provide a window bed.

I flop down on the window bed and was about enter a deep slumber when the door bell rang.

Who could it be? Could it be his friends or any stranger like last time? The last thought sent shivers down my spine.

I rushed to open the door with the fear that this might again get him angry.

On the door was a very formally dressed person, in his early 20s well built ( that you could see through the tight tux he wore) and a look of pure dominance which seemed out of place in the area we lived in or the life my father lived. So I was in shock.

He cleared his throat at me staring at him. I snapped out off my calculative thoughts.

"Hello, how may I help you?" I said in a polite tone.

"I am here to meet Ms Hope." He answered in a monotonous tone.

Someone is here to meet me but why? I haven't done anything wrong except a few.

"I am Life Hope but may I ask why is that you want to meet me?"

"Ms Life you have been selected to go to one of the most prestigious college VFMAC on scholarship basis. It our Director who chose you to be the special one. It's a one time offer valid till tonight." He replied with no emotions.

I am speechless. I finally get to leave this place, this life behind and start all new in a prestigious college. I will finally have a life I dreamt of.

Before I could reply Watt screamed from behind," No she is not going anywhere she is supposed to stay and take care of me and be a good daughter. She won't be going anywhere. Now you can leave."

No, no, no, not happening. I can't loose this chance. I can't let Watt ruin me anymore. I have to do something about it. But what ??
