The Monster Inside Me

Prologue

The Sawyer family household 1994:

They had just brought back their beautiful baby girls from the hospital where they were born. The doctors immediately noticed problems with them. One, who the parents named Alexandria, had one green eye, the left one, and one red, the right. She had sharp fangs. The other, Denise, had one green eye, and the right was completely black. No pupil or anything showing but a dark abyss.

The parents, Divinity and Walter, were not phased by this however. Their children were different and they knew it. The thing was, there's a secret this family was hiding from the public. The mother was a demon. She comes from a place called The Void, only 5% of demons come from there. It's a dark place where all demons must have red eyes, black hair and a hunger for human flesh. She was kicked out because she fell in love with the human she was ordered to eat. She was considered different because, out of all the demons in the void, she was the only one able to make herself appear human. The demons in The Void all had grey skin with orange markings, she was no exception. However, she could turn her skin a pale tan and make her eyes a natural blue color.
It was a love story between a demon and a human.

They were only 20 years old. In college. They had all the same classes and similar interests. Both extroverts with a love for nature and a want for a family. They were both fascinated by each other and began speaking. They would speak about the simple things. How was your day? Did you eat today? Do you want to hang out this weekend? They grew a close relationship over time becoming best friends and accidentally friend zoning each other.

Eventually Divinity couldn't take any more of this pain. She was saving it for years and it only caused her problems saving it. She had a constant pain in her chest and head. She couldn't tell him no matter how much she wanted to. She cried every night then put on a face during the day, faking happiness. Just to keep him happy. She got jealous when he spoke with other girls, even if it was forced on him. She wanted all those girls that spoke to him to die. And so she took it into her own hands. She would threaten the girls who talked to him, telling them that if they ever spoke to him again she would hurt them. They thought her threats were empty and continued speaking with him. She warned them again and they still wouldn't believe her. Some went as far as to flirt with him. They knew very well that he only liked Divinity but they continue on just in spite of the lady threatening them. Just the sight of this was enough to break her. She grabbed the girls arm and dragged her into an alleyway.

No one knows what happened to the girls in the alley but all that was left was a skeleton, no other signs of DNA left behind. The authorities could tell from dental records that it was the lady flirting.

Their wedding day was magical. Divinity was dressed in a white wedding gown. It had a puffed out bottom, comprised of multiple layers of thin light fabric. It was thin enough that it was practically clear but when stacked how it was you couldn't see a thing underneath. At the top of the skirt were flowers fading down slowly toward the bottom. The top was extremely low cut. It was made up of a base of fabric to hold it together and it was covered with matching flowers to the point where you couldn't see the fabric underneath. The roses led over her shoulders as straps holding the dress up. Walter wore a navy blue tuxedo. It had a line of white over the breast pouch. He had on under a black button down shirt with a neat bow tie. It was white, Divinity's favorite color.

When they got home, they had no plans for a honeymoon, they made love. Soon, days later, they found out that Divinity was pregnant. They were happy and scared. Happy because they always wanted a family. Scared because they didn't know if the baby would make it. A child born to a human and a demon was never done before. They didn't want to lose the baby they've always wanted.

Months later they soon realized it was twins, both girls. They were thrilled. They would get to have double to love.

A few months later and we're here. The doctor we had was specifically for demons so they didn't have to worry about sharing their secret. The doctors were suspicious of the human father. He seemed to have good intentions, but demons and humans have hated and feared each other for as long as they knew. It was strange to the doctors. But their current priority was making sure these babies will be okay during delivery.

They had an excellent time teaching them to walk and talk and ride a bike, but they always sensed something off with Alexandria. She would be caught trying to eat stray squirrels or the neighbourhood pets. She had succeeded once but luckily it was just a squirrel. When Divinity was a child she was supposed to hunger for animal meat, but she never did. It must have skipped a generation and went on to Alexandria. They didn't know what to do with her.
