Damien awoke to a quiet dark room, a beeping on his alarm clock ringing through his mind and body. He groaned and sat up, turning off the alarm. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and looked around at the dark room. Damien took a deep slow breath and got up, walking to the other side of the room and flicking on the light.

The light in Helios was made to mimic some form of sunlight, as they were stuck inside practically every day of their lives. It was the same back home on the space station too, just the same mimicked sunlight. Jack had created it and placed it in every room in Helios so that it would feel more comfortable than most manufactured lights on Pandora. They were even better than on Opportunity because there was more of a need for them. On Pandora you could get direct sunlight whenever you needed, and in some places you could get too much sunlight and die a very slow and painful death. Damien had never been outside technically, since he was born on Helios, and lived the other half of his life on the space station with his parents. He didn't miss the sunlight. He didn't get the big deal. But that was because he had never felt a real feeling of sunlight.

Damien sighed softly and pulled back his short brown hair, looking at the closet door. He wondered if Zach was even awake. It was at least 7 am. Then again Jack had told him a long time ago that most of his workers were forced to wake up earlier than most because 'It was funny'. But the policies had changed under Darrell's rule. He couldn't really guess what time Zach was used to waking up at. He decided to continue with his morning anyway, walking into the bathroom.

The bathroom floor was tiled with large, black and white, sleek and clean tiles. The feeling was nice and cold against his feet. He quite liked the feeling. He looked in the large mirror and touched his face. He had always had pretty forgiving skin, mostly pimple free, but now that he was in Helios that was more important than ever. He didn't know what people would say if he walked out with a pimple or spot of acne while representing Handsome Jack's genes. He was already scrawny and thin, so any spot on his face surely wouldn't help. He ducked his face into the sink, scrubbing his face with soft thin fingers. He sighed, still trying to rub that tired feeling from his face. He rinsed fully and pulled his hair back. He looked around at the bathroom. There was another sink for some reason, a toilet, and a giant shower. He let out a soft chuckle, a shower sounded great. He stripped down and turned on the hot water, letting it race down the drain for a moment before stepping in. The shower was practically another room like the shower his Dad and Mom shared, but much smaller. Unlike that shower, this one only had one showerhead. The floor was covered in smaller, white tiles, as well as the walls.

The water cascaded down his back after soaking into his brown hair. He let out a soft sigh. He had maybe an hour to get all ready. That's plenty of time, he thought, scrubbing expensive shampoo into his hair. His mind began to wander. It wandered into areas of his life he didn't like thinking about.

He was a future CEO of Hyperion. He hated that. He hated admitting he hated that. Just the idea of office life, even if he was the boss of everyone around him, made him sad. He didn't want to think of what his Dad would say if he admitted his true, real dream. The thought made him shiver. If that ever happened, if Darrell ever found what was on that tablet, he'd be a goner for sure. He could only imagine the disappointment in Jack's eyes. He was already a disappointing son, he didn't want to be a disappointing CEO too. He had to be on this trip, and at least he had met Zach. He wondered what would happen if Zach found out. Would he tell Darrell? Would he tell Dad? No, Zach wouldn't tell Dad. Dad probably wouldn't even know Zach. Even if we were friends for years. He was just like that.

And just like that, the shower was over. Now Damien was sad. He didn't like feeling sad. So he looked in the mirror, dried his hair and body, and stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.
