We sit quietly in the carriage, the boy and I. My Angel is driving us back to the boy's home. I don't quite understand what's going on today. Things have happened so fast...
First of all, Mary is dead. I wouldn't say we were the closest friends, but we always had each other for comfort. Secondly, Master is dead. Killed by the same boy in front of me. He looks so different from the savaged, raged beast of before.
"How did you get into the situation you were in?" The boy asks suddenly, drawing me out of my thoughts. "O-Oh. I don't know. The story Ma-...I mean, Jack told me was that my family is dead. He was the only one there for me... I sometimes have memories of...of an attack on my home..." I whisper.
The boy gazes at me thoughtfully. "Alright. Tell me everything you can about Jack." He says, power coming from his voice. "Can i ask you a question first?" I ask. He doesn't look taken aback by my sudden question. "Go ahead."
"If you don't mind...What is your name? And your butler's name?" I almost said my angel. Im positive I would have sparked more questions then. "I am the Earl Ceil Phantomhive. You may call me Earl Phantomhive and nothing else. My butler's name is Sebastian Michaelis." He says.
The carriage comes to a halt. I wait for the rock of the carriage when Sebastian climbs down, but nothing happens. What is he- The door opens, showing Sebastian. He holds out his hand for Earl Phantomhive. The Earl slaps his hand away and climbs down himself.
Sebastian doesn't look taken aback, but merely chuckles. He then holds his hand to me, and i softly take it. He helps me down. "Your too skinny, Madam. It's a miracle you haven't come down with a disease." He murmurs. I glance up at him. "I know." Is all i can whisper back.
"What are you two whispering about?" The earl yells at us. Sebastian smirks. "Nothing, Young Master. I was just commenting on how skinny she is." I blink. Master would hit me if i had done what Sebastian did.
He opens up the door to show a magnificent front room. A staircase lies in the back of the room, and branches off at the top. The floor is polished marble, and the walls are a beautiful green. The Earl starts walking up the stairs.
"Well, comment later. I want tea and something sweet sent to my office. Also, send her up to when she is more clean." He orders and walks down the second story hall. Sebastian leads me down a hall, then into a room with a small bed and a nice wardrobe in the corner. The floor is a polished wood and the walls are a drab grey.
"You will be staying here, until we can find if you have any living relations." Sebastian says. "There is a washroom across the hall. Please bathe there, and there will be a dress hanging on the door when you are finished. I can send Mey-Rin down to help you dress." He leaves the room and closes the door quietly.
This room is better than any i can remember. I walk to the bed and sit down. It is really comfortable. A small wooden nightstand stands beside it, and a barely used candle sits on it. The only light from the room is from the window. It's a really nice room.
I stand and open the door. The Earl did say he wanted to see me. I wouldn't want to keep him waiting. He said it was across the hall, so i quietly open the door to a steaming washroom. The floor is marble tiles and the tub is white, clawed foot, and pristine. Sebastian must of had Mey-Rin, whoever this person is, fill it. I will have to thank them.
I slowly slink out of the rags i wear and walk to the tub. I slowly climb into the still water, and take a sudden breath. Its warm. I have never had a warm shower or bath. I slowly submerge myself in the warm water. It feels heavenly.
Gazing around, i notice a rack covered in expensive soaps and washes. I softly grab one, and begin washing my ragged hair
~~~~~~~
I feel clean, for once. I wrap a fluffy towel around me and start to dry off. It's a heavenly feeling. I feel special. A knock at the door. "It's Mey-Rin, ma'am, yes it is." A high pitched voice says. So Mey-Rin is a girl? "Come in."
The door opens, revealing a tall girl with maroon hair. She wears a blue and white maid's dress, and glasses. She is really lovely. "Mr. Sebastian told me to help you dress." She explains.
"O-Oh. I don't mean to cause trouble...I can dress myself." I quickly say. "Nonsense! I want to help, yes i do." She smiles kindly and shows me the dress. It's lovely. It is mostly pink, with white ruffles around the neck. Black lines flow from it and down the dress. I gasp. "It's beautiful..." I whisper.
She smiles. "Now turn around, Ma'am, so i can help dress you." I do so and turn around, forgetting some scars that wouldn't burn away. I drop the towel, and hear her gasp. "Ma'am! What happened to you?" She asks. I look at her, and see tears running down her cheeks.
"Oh! I didn't mean to make you cry. Those...Those are the scars that wouldn't burn off." She wipes away her tears. "Who did it to you?" I look down. "My old master. He was cruel to me and...and my friend." She doesn't say anything, so i speak again. "Please don't waste your tears on me. Save them for something important."
I glance up at her. She looks at me, and quickly wipes more tears away. "I will try, ma'am." She whispers. "No. Don't try. Promise me. Save them for something, or someone worth crying for." She smiles a little. "Of course ma'am. I promise that from now on, i will smile more, and cry less! Ting!" She says as she smiles brightly.
She starts helping me. (And might i say, the corsage nearly killed me). After a while, i finish dressing. Mey-Rin smiles. "You look lovely, Ma'am!" I smile a little back at her. "Thank you. Thanks is just an understatement actually..."
"It was nothing, ma'am. If you don't mind me asking, what is your name?" She asks. "Oh...I don't quite know..." She gapes at me, then quickly smiles. "Then lets make you up one, yes we will! What name do you want?" That is a hard question. I don't know what name to choose. I don't really know names. But how about... "Mary." I say.
"Mary is a lovely name, Ma'am. It suits you." She says. "Thank you. It was my friend's name." I think she can hear that she isn't around anymore, for she doesn't ask questions. "The Young Master is waiting, Ma'am, yes he is."
She leads me out of the washroom, and down the winding maze of halls, until we stop in front of a tall oak door. She knocks, and The Earl speaks. "Come in." Mey-Rin opens the door for me. I slowly walk inside, and Mey-Rin shuts the door behind me. "Please, sit." He says, not even looking at me. Instead, he looks at a set of papers in front of him.
I sit in a leather chair across from him, waiting for him to talk. He finally does, after ha finishes piling the papers up neatly. "I have found out who you were before you were taken." He says, emotionless. I gaze at him, waiting for him to continue.
"Your name was Christina Bayet. Your father was Sammule Bayet, and your mother was Samantha Harson Bayet. Your father was owner of the Bayet company, a small candy making company, before he and your parents were killed in an attack. You were presumed dead after no one could find you. You were five at the time of the attack." He finishes. He looks like he is having deja vu.
"Then...i really am alone." Is all i can say.
