Tori's POV

"What can I say. It was time for a prison break. I had to see the girl I loved one last time."

How? I mean how am I supposed to respond to that? I'm still not sure if I'm in the right state of mind right now.

"Tori? Come on. Please say something. You've been standing there for the past 5 minutes now."

My eyes snapped over to the counter where he now stood, staring at me.

"What do you want me to say?"

"Anything would be nice."

I couldn't though. I mean. He's still in an orange jumper, obviously the prison break statement wasn't a joke. I just don't know if my mind will catch up to this.

"How are you here then?"

He smiled when he finally got something out of me.

"My mom. She gave me your address."he took a step forward, still smiling.

"Your mom gave you my address?"my eyebrows furrowed as he looked at me confused.

"Yeah. Why?"

"Uhm. Nothing. It's just that she doesn't really like me anymore. I think she blames me for you going to jail."

His smile fell and he gave me a sad look.

"Oh. I'm sorry. I-I didn't know."

"No it's okay. Really."

He took long strides to reach me and grab my hands when he did.

"No Tori. It's not okay. I'm not gonna stand here and watch you act like we're complete strangers who don't know how to talk to each other."

I pulled my hands from him and held them against my chest, staring at his slightly anger filled face.

"Don't you think I know that Elijah? A couple days ago I would have killed to have you back in my life. But now that you're actually here, I-I don't know what to do."

"Atleast talk to me. Please."

Again. He was back to holding me. This time, he was gripping my face and staring intently into my eyes.

"I-I-"

I didn't get to finish my sentence because a knock at the door cut me off.

I held Elijah's gaze and he did the same. I could see his breathing pick up pace as he anxiously stared at me.

"Are y-you expecting someone at 10 in the night?"

"No I'm not."

At my reply, he stepped away from me and went to stand back at the counter. He placed his hands in his pockets at stared at me from where he stood.

"So? Aren't you going to answer it?"

Is he serious?

I didn't know if that was rhetorical or if he actually meant it. I wouldn't know what to do if there was someone here looking for him.

"I-I don't think that's a good idea."

"If you're uncomfortable opening the door while I'm here, it would be best if I leave."

He gave me a 'look' and turned towards the back door.

"Wait!"

He stopped in his tracks and turned to face me as he heard my call.

"Don't go. Please. I-I just got you back."I whispered the last part and he smiled.

"Thanks. Because I sure wouldn't know where the hell to go."
