"Look Josh, I'm working right now so do you want coffee or not?" I quickly asked him as I logged into the iPad sitting on the counter for orders. He gave me a dark look not amused by the quick comment I made.
"If I order a damn coffee will you answer my question?" His voice got deeper as he asked the question.
Here is the thing about Josh. He is an asshole. If he doesn't get his way, well there is no not getting his way, he is the GOLDEN CHILD. He can not do a thing wrong, he didn't take his final last year and he still passed the class with a 98% so he can play lacrosse. He is the star athlete of the school, so what can you expect?
Josh has been the middy of the lacrosse team since anyone can remember. Team captain. Number one. Best on the fields. Next big lacrosse star. To be honest I'm just sick of him. That might also be because I've known him for years, he's also my next door neighbor. My first love, or so I told myself when I was six years old. I still remember him and I getting married in my back yard. Let me just say it was a beautiful wedding.
It happened in my tree house, I wore my white dress that I wore to my aunt wedding as the flower girl and my moms vail from her wedding, I truly felt like a princess, then I learn who the real Josh was, a major POS.
"Here, make a deal with you, you order whatever you want and if I don't hate making what you ordered then I'll answer your question. However, if I do hate making what you ordered, I won't." After I said that there was that dumb awkward pause as he started at me.
"You know, for a nerd you have a quick wit, and I've always admired that about you." I looked at him with disgust before saying,
"So, what are you gonna order, choose carefully."
"Ight, can I get a large iced coffee, with only cream." He said it so confident as if anything he said was going to give him the answer he wanted to hear. That I would "help" him with this dumb homework.
"Of course your majesty. Would you like anything else?" I said while rolling my eyes.
"Well, if you keep talking to me like that then there are a few things I can think of," he said winking at me.
As Josh said those terrible terrible words I could hear the bell ring as someone walked in, that's when I saw Ben, confused I looked at the time and realized my shift was up and that I'm going to have to face Josh without the counter between us.
Fuck.
