Holly heard from one of the new recruits about Trouble’s break-up from Lili Frond, and was a little offended to not have heard it from directly, they were friends nowadays.

She knocked on the door of his office, before coming in, once she’d established he was not doing anything too complex.

“I hear from the gossip mill that the delightful Corporal Frond has moved onto hotter pastures.” She teased, perching on the corner of his desk, as he pulled his eyes from the form he was filling in.

“Ahh, so I assume you’ve heard all the sordid details!” he replied, with a laugh.

“Oh yes! The hoards of other people involved as well, how do you have the time?” Holly joked back, with a smile, as Trouble leant back in his seat.

“Who’s the latest?” He asked, curiously, grinning at her.

“Corporal Gill Harper, from traffic.” Holly told him, with glee. Trouble wrinkled his nose.

“I’ve bumped into her once, in a corridor, and the only word I’ve ever said to her was ‘whoops.’” He complained light heartedly.

“Well, let’s take you out for a few drinks tonight, it’s the weekend tomorrow, I’m going to get you horrendously drunk.” Holly told him, standing up, and walking over the office door, “No backing out, I’ll meet you at the Gnome’s Hat at 8 tonight, be there or I will find you.” She told him, before leaving the room, and going back to her own desk. Just as she sat down, her phone beeped.

She looked around, checking to see no-one was watching, and then picked it up, it was a text from Mulch.

‘In Haven this weekend, can I sleep on your sofa tomorrow?’

‘No, last time the house smelled like dirt for a week.’ Holly typed back, putting her phone down quickly again, before looking around to check none of the juniors had seen her. It was hardly do to be seen to be flouting the rules when she was supposed to be a role model, despite her reputation for rule-flouting.

It beeped again a moment later, and Holly sneaked one last look at it, before putting it aside and pulling a form over to her, clicking her pen purposely. Trouble poked his face out of his office, tapping his watch, and mouthing ‘get that report done’ at her. She rolled her eyes at him, before looking down at the half finished report that she had to get done by the end of the afternoon. She leant back in her chair, and with a sigh, carried on with the 25 page form.

The clock was just hitting half 5, when she finished, striding into Trouble’s office triumphantly and throwing it down at his desk, with a grin.

“Well done Major Short, only took you 3 hours.” He said, leaning back in his chair, giving her a mock-stern look.

Holly leant back on the desk behind her.

“Very entertaining, I know for a fact that it takes you at least 5 hours to complete one of these.” She replied, giving his wheely chair a shove.
