mr clark, your science teacher, distributed dissection packs for your next project. "i don't have enough for everyone, you're going to need to pair up!" he explained. around you, everyone was selecting their partners. you sat by yourself in science, well, you sat by yourself in every class. you didn't have any friends and you lacked in self confidence. you moved around a lot, as your father was in the army and was posted to a new state every one to two years. you had moved to hawkins a week and a half before hand. you were never in the one place long enough to make friends.
you saw will byers sitting by himself. it was time you did something to help yourself, so you walked up to him, pulled up a seat beside him and introduced yourself. "uh, hi, i'm sharona"
he smiled at you and took a moment to scan your face. "i'm will, nice to meet you, sh-sharona" he replied.you could tell he felt awkward and nervous, so you tried making conversation with him. "so what do you do for kicks around here?" he hesitated, "uh, well, i play DnD." you were confused, you thought about it for a moment, and asked, "what's DnD." he explained it to you, and you nodded your head. "is that all everyone does around here?" you asked.
"no, that's what my party and i do, at mikes house."maybe they play sports here? you hoped so, you'd been good at football since you were five. you also won at states for track. "you should come play one time, it'd be fun." he added. you nodded and smiled. "that'd be nice." he was a nice kid, he was quiet at first but he soon warmed up and started talking more. he was cute, too.
for our project, we had to dissect a sheep heart. you didn't really care, it didn't bother you whatsoever. will, on the other hand, you could see freaking out. "are you ok?" he was shakey, something was definitely up. "this stuff just scares me a bit, that's all."
the bell finally rang, class was now over.
