In a small shelter for smaller animals, (The animals had to be smaller than the shelter, otherwise they wouldn't fit.) Worked two, very sweet but stupid men and one, slightly less stupid, part time therapist.

The two men were Patton Swan and Logan Othel, Patton was 21 and Logan was 23; he enjoyed constantly boasting about this despite Patton being almost a foot taller than him.
The part time therapist was Emile Picani. It would be very strange for him to work in an animal shelter, if it wasn't for the fact that it had a therapeutic session twice a week for anyone who needed it.
In these sessions, you could go into a room used for the cats to rest in and pet them while you talked with Emile. They were a way for people to relax and work through issues, or just have a chat and play with kitties.
Sometimes, Patton would go into these sessions when he had nothing else to do.

"It's only to play with the cats!"

"Of course it is, that's why you always rush your work on Wednesdays so you can go in-"

"Oh please why else would I do it?"

"That emo boy that makes you unable to think straight."

That 'emo boy' was Virgil Foster, he went to the therapy sessions on Wednesdays to deal with his anxiety. He also happened to love cats, and was scared to ask his family to give him the money for therapy which made these free sessions perfect.
If only he could concentrate. There was one factor stopping this, Patton.

"He's awful Roman really." Virgil sighed, his session had finished and he'd gone back to his shared flat with his childhood friend, Roman Prince, (or "stupid face" as Virgil called him.)

"Oh yeah? How's he awful?"

"Just everything about him is so annoying, he's so happy all the time it makes me want to scream , and his voice is just so stupid I can't get it out of my head it's so soft and he sounds so sweet," Virgil was gradually starting to blush as he spoke.

"Oh he sounds like a Disney villain," Roman rolled his eyes, "tell me more about him."

This continued for just over an hour, with offending factors being: "his beautiful eyes", "he's so good with animals", "He kept looking at me."
And other unthinkable curses.

"Admit it Patton, you have romantic interest in him." Logan teased as they closed up the shelter for the night.

"What?! No of course I don't, I just want to see him get better..." he muttered, blushing a lot for someone who isn't in love.

"Why is that?"

"He seems so sad and lonely a lot of the time and I don't think it's fair he has to deal with that. I just want to help him, then maybe we could be friends? But why would he want to be friends with me anyway," Patton giggled, it sounded fake but as previously mentioned, Logan was stupid.

"...Alright. Just don't go slacking off because you're too in love to work." He said 'in love' as if the words tasted of sour milk.

"Won't be a problem, I'm not in love with him anyway."

Clearly, neither of them were in love.
