getting closer

i look around for your heart

. . .

( d a w n's  point of view)

the tiny café huddled despondent among the huge city buildings. washed out under the orange sky, hundreds of people rushed by it, outside on the crowded street. it's getting late and the machines are filling coffee cups, and a familiar scent of freshly baked bread fills the café. no longer i was staying there as dawn the hardworking barista, for i have tired eyes that crave the sweet embrace of getting to bed. but the price of finally getting rest was something i'd never expect as a "reward"

so once upon a time (or should I say, an hour ago) i got fired from this café.

and you may think yes! she's going to get a break from work! congrats!

but no, i wasn't satisfied with this position. literally. i'm staying outside in a café I had once loved; now i feel like there is no glimmer of joy in eating the bread from this café. no longer I want to eat my favorite pandasaal; for it reminded me of my painful moment where I got fired. so I thought of asking gwen to come over for a sense of comfort, but I figured she was probably busy, guessing from her sudden disappearance from the morning. then I thought about axella, and decided to text her to come over. and so i'm waiting for her, outside the café.

now thinking about it, why did I get fired? i gave away all my heart. i tired to be one of those surviving stressed workers, one of the ones who really tried to hold on to who they really are despite all the stress.  i tried not to freak out or make mistakes during the worst times, yet i got fired.

so here i am, facing the front of the café with a heavy sigh.

after some racing thoughts, axella finally appears and rushes towards me, holding a box of cupcakes. its from another place, i guessed, judging from the cover. "sorry for the news." axella softly says, looking at me with pity. i chuckle at her sudden expression change. "you don't need to, it's not your fault" i say, biting into one of the cupcakes.

"so why did you bring these?" i ask, and she gave me a shrug. "because it's your birthday. duh." i see her eyes glow a little brighter, her face more relaxed, a smidge more joy in her eyes, "bought it for a cheaper price because of my cuteness. booyah!" she says, pumping her fist into the air. gosh, why is her face and voice so cute?

"thanks for remembering." i reply, feeling a tiny bit better. then she blows me a flying kiss. "you know what other job fits you perfectly? loving me."

"did mia pass you vivi's seaweed hair or something?"

"nah, just high off my love for you." she replies, winking at me.

"you have a wife."

"shh, we're just getting closer"

. . .

after a short while of walking to places, she insisted for both of us to go home. I agreed, and asked her how are we going home (because she's whack at driving) and she said she's going to call for uber.

so here i am, waiting for ube- I mean, an uber driver to just pick us up.

"here it comes'" axella sang, pointing at a fancy car. jesus crust. what uber diver is this?

"our uber ride!" axella says excitedly, gesturing me to open the door. and so i did, only to be revealing a familiar face i have seen before...

"vivi? since when did you work at uber?" i questioned, staring at the elder. "v-vivi? who's that?" axella nervously laughs, entering the car.

"don't we live in the same-"

"alright b o i s let's go" the driver (who was obviously vivi) screeches.

"wait, where the hell are we going?" i ask, trying to look at what's outside the window.

but gwen blocks my view, and so does axella from the other door. i was left with only staring at the front, where it only showed the roads and buildings towered over us. vivi just smiled.

"don't worry, we're getting closer." axella says with an evil smile.

and that was the story on how i got kidnapped.
