Chapter Eighteen

Eight pm rolloed around and all of us were drinking, waiting for Michelle to knock on the door and come in. Everyone was excited to know what was going to be said. I had an idea of what was going to go down, but I really didnt know till it was going to happen.

A few momments after I started my third beer and Matt finished a story about Jimmy, there was a knock on the door.

All of us looked at each other, then Matt got up to answer it.

Sure enough, Michelle walked into the living room behind Matt.

"You wanted to talk to me Brian?" Michelle said looking at me, then Syn as she crossed her arms.

Syn looked at me, then Michelle, "Yea, lets go to the kitchen."

She nodded her head and walked in the kitchen.

Syn stood up and pulled me up with him, "Come with me."

I felt my heart stop for a second, then followed him in the kitchen.

"She doesnt have to be here." Michelle snapped.

Syn looked at me, then at Michelle, "Yea, she does. I want her to hear what Im telling you, so she can believe me."

Michell and I both looked at him funny.

"Believe what?" Michelle asked.

Syn sighed, "Im not in love with you Michelle. Im in love with her. I love you though, but as a friend, not a wife."

"What?" She yelled.

He nodded his head, "Im sorry, but im breaking off the enegagment."

"The hell you say." Michelle siad getting in his face.

I grabbed the back of Syns shirt and pulled him back.

"Michelle, god damn it, Im not going to marry you. You can not make me." Syn snapped at her.

Michelle instently started crying.

"Michelle, please dont." He begged.

She shook her head and looked at me then him, "I knew you were in love with her all along, but I never thought you'd actually get the guts to tell me."

"Why didnt you say you knew? If you knew, why did you drag me along?" He asked her.

She shook her head and looked at the ground, "I wanted o hear it from you. I really didnt want to hear it all, because I really am in love with you Brian."

"Im sorry, Michelle." Syn said sadly.

Michelle sighed, "Whatever Brian, here."

She took off her engagment ring and sat in on the counter, then walked out of the kitchen.

"Thats it then." Syn said looking at me with the sign of relief on his face.

I smiled at him.

"Its just you and me now." He said wrapping his arms around me and kissed me.

"just me and you, for life." I smiled at him.

He laughed and nodded his head, "Come with me real fast, we need to get rid of this old ring."

"How?" I asked him as he snatched the ring Michelle had left, then took off running out the back door of Matts, dragging me behind him.

We walked threw the woods for a while. An hour or so really. Syn wouldnt tell me where we are going or why we had to get rid of that ring.

"Are they not going to wonder where we are?" I asked Brian laughing.

Syn shook his head, "I told Matt what was going on before you and Brandy came back downstairs."

I nodded my head and kept following him, till finally we stopped.

We got to the edge of the woods and came out over to a drop off cliff that dropped down to the ocean. The waves crashed against the beach down at the bottom. The way the moon light shined on the water, it was pretty amazing.

"Okay, so what are you going to do? Chuck it over the edge?" I laughed.

He nodded his head and looked at the ring, then out at the ocean.

"You're serious?" I asked him.

"Yea, I'd give it to you, but it wouldnt be right, giving you the ring of someone else." He said looking at me.

I smiled at him and watched as he walked to the far edge. He stood looked out as the wind slightly blew his hair back. He looked at the ring in his hands, then tossed it out into the ocean. I walked up to him and hugged him from behind.

"Its wa the right thing. I couldnt be with someone I wasnt in love with." He said blankly, "And have the real girl I was in love with, hurt and suffer for it and everything else around her."

He turned around and looked at me, then kissed me.

"Brian, you are something else." I laughed, "Something special."

He smirked agaisnt my lips as he kissed me again, "Am I something so speical, for you to marry me?"

I looked at him shocked and he pulled a ring from his pocket. One competly different from the other one he tossed in the ocean.

I felt tears fall down my cheeks as I looked in his eyes with a smile, "You are so crazy Brian!"

"Crazy enough to ask the right girl to marry me?" He said serious.

I nodded my head and wrapped my arms around his neck.

He kissed my cheek and hugged me tight, "I love you so much Cyndy."

"I love you too." I told him as I looked out at the ocean.

As I looked out at the ocean, I swear I saw Jimmy standing on the other side, smiling at me.

"Brian, look!" I quickly said, pointing to the other side of the cliff.

He quickly looked and was stunned.

"Do see who I think I see?" He asked, still looking over the other side.

I nodded my head, "Jimmy."

Syn quickly looked at me and I quickly looked at him.

Both of us smiled at each other, then looked back to the other side and Jimmy was gone.

"That was, something else." Syn said shaking his head.

I laughed and rested my head on his chest as he held me in his arms.

"Hey Cyndy." He said looking down at me.

I looked up at him, "What?"

He pulled out his phone from his pocket and looked at it, then showed it to me. The time quickly changed from 11:59pm to 12:00am.

"Happy new year baby." He said as he kissed me.
