Revelry in the dark

You picked out a random slip of paper of doom from Pixie- bob's hand.
The number 1 was written on it.

Great, of course your luck would make you go first.

You wondered who you got paired up with, hoping it wasn't Mineta. You were about to go around and ask but before you could take even one step you had been stopped by a certain bird boy who obviously wanted your attention.

"So what number did end up getting?" Tokoyami curiously questioned, still being sophisticated as ever.

You flipped your slip of paper around so he could see, you thought showing him would be easier than telling him.

Tokoyami chuckled before flipping his own piece of paper that matched yours.

You giggled. "What a quinky dink"

Of course you weren't really friends with Tokoyami but you had a solid relationship with everyone in your class that you felt comfortable having a conversation with them.

Although what you didn't know that was from the sidelines he had been watching you, admiring you, falling for you.

"Okay kittens! Time to start! Pair number one is up first!" Pixie-bob said excitedly, pushing the pair she saw with 1 on their paper towards the entrance of the woods, which was unfortunately you two.

The wind blew softly shaking the trees slightly back and forth in a creepy manor, how appropriate.

"Revelry in the dark" Tokoyami closed his eyes and looked down to the side.

You looked up in confusion, what dose he even mean when he says that? ...and why was there a hint of nervousness when said that?

"Wait you aren't scared are you?" You asked him worriedly. Which only made him turn away from you even more.

Of course he was scared. But he can't just blurt out. 'You're making me nervous I'm completely in love with you'. So instead he said "Let's go"  walking forwards deeper into the woods.

You followed slowly behind him, did you make him mad? Maybe he is scared and you just embarrassed him.

Way to be a great classmate Y/N.

After a few minutes you had past 1B's first attempt to scare you with ease,  let's just say the new exchange student isn't that scary but at least she tried.

"It's like they're not even trying. Totally not scary" You laughed feeling cocky, also trying to break the ice that had become between you two, he hadn't spoken since this silly little test started.

That was until you heard something rustle in the bushes to the right of you causing your heart to skip a bit and jolting your body in the process.

"Not scary huh? " Tokoyami joked, hands in pocket.

You blushed feeling embarrassed, you were supposed to be a hero, surely heros don't jump at the sound of a lizard in the bushes. But also he finally talked to you, maybe he doesn't hate you.

Maybe embarrassing your self is the key to conversation.

"Righttttt... so do you think our names will just be there? Or will they be hiding and we have to find them? Orrrr maybe 1B are guarding them and we have to have a fight to the death?" You rambled on trying to cover up your embarrassing moment from before.

"Not entirely sure" He blushed, not that you can tell... he's a bird, and avoided eye contact with you.

He totally didn't know how to answer, with you beside him he was completely off guard. But that was a horrible answer he gave, now the small talk was over and he had missed his chance to try get to know you better.
