Yuna knows herself as the master of trickery.
A magician known to place a form of sadness in her hat before tapping it with her wand on a wishful spell, revealing the form of happiness out of her hat with a staged smile, showing the world what it means to be one than to feel one.
Or maybe, not a magician, but a joker who simply switch both emotions only for the eminent one to appear on stage, stealing the spotlight.
And maybe, that might be right—because someone once told her she skates only when she's happy and doesn't when she's not.
So Yuna brought her board and skated her way to Minisu.
It was merely to trick the unexplainable sadness lingering in her chest, the feeling that has been eating her away despite countless attempts to cast them out of herself. She tried many things—stargazing, drawing astrological signs, humming unfinished songs from her tattered journal. But all of them only made her feel worse when there were times those hobbies reminded her of a certain someone.
Maybe feeling like this was a good thing. A lesson. Because she doesn't know how it feels like to adore someone and then leave them for good. A sacrifice like a hero—she almost cackled and cried at that. Was it for the best?
Maybe or maybe not, she ponders, walking into Minisu that was almost closing. She purposely picked this late night to avoid the plausibility of bumping into him.
Nevertheless, she wears a bright smile and greets the owner happily.
"Shiro-san!!! Long time no see—"
Her crescent eyes and smile abruptly faltered when she saw the solemn and somewhat sombre look on Shiro's expression.
He was on the phone, though the second he saw her he pulled back and gave her that look. Yuna obviously was unaware of what was going on since she had just entered the closing store.
But then she saw something in his eyes—worry and panic. She didn't like it. She had never seen him like this. She was always greeted with his welcoming smile and awful jokes, but never like this.
It was only the two of them in the restaurant whereas the rest of the workers have gone home. That's when Yuna realized it was an hour past closing time, almost midnight. Shiro should have been home by now and so was she. But she didn't want to go home for any reason. She just needed to get away.
But why was he still here?
"Rei."
Her heart almost stopped. He sounded disturbingly serious.
"I think it's best that you stay at my place for tonight."
Her brows furrowed. "Why? What happened? Who were you on the phone with?"
"I—" Shiro looked away with a frustrated gaze, gritting his teeth. "Your mum called me. She wanted me to look after you until tomorrow."
For some reason, Yuna laughed. Bitterly.
"Jesus, she thinks I need a babysitter? I'm fucking eighteen." She laughs again and shook her head, but when Shiro just stares at her with a look she hated—pity—that's when her mind starts overthinking.
"What the fuck happened, Shiro." Her voice scratched.
"She told me not to tell you." He reasoned.
"Well, fuck whatever she told you!" She suddenly shouted, though it was only the both of them in the isolated store. "I'm her fucking daughter for fuck's sake!"
"Rei—Just calm down!"
"The moment you start calling me that, it could only mean shit!"
