Haikyuu- The Light in The Darkness

Chapter One - Noya POV

   "Yuu-nii! Wake up!" Shouyou says in my ear. I sit up and rub the sleep from my eyes and look down at Shouyou who still has a blank look on his face like always, I've only seen him smile or laugh a couple times.
     "Okay, Shou" I get up, and grab his hand, he's only a year younger than me but he's way too small for his age, we are both too small for our age, from lack of food when we were younger,but Shou is really small. When Shou first arrived he was seven it was pouring rain outside, and he was covered in bruises and cuts. He still flinches slightly when anyone comes near him other than me, but it's not as bad as he was five years ago. I was the one who found the little seven year old boy. It was the middle of the night and I couldn't sleep because I had a nightmare. I was going downstairs too grab my crow plushie when I heard crying from outside the door, i looked out the window and saw a small boy that looked to be four. I went and got a caretaker and when he opened the door we saw the broken boy.
     "Hello," I said hoping maybe he would be my friend when the others wouldn't because of all my scars. The boy immediately looked at me with tear filled eyes and began to cry, but then when he saw the caretaker behind me his eyes filled with fear that I have never seen, and he began to shake even worse than before. I walked forward and gave him a hug hoping it would calm him down, he seemed shocked and stopped wailing, still crying softly he clutched me as if he was afraid I'd leave.
      "Yuu-nii, come on we're going to miss breakfast!" Shouyou said as he hurried to get dressed, he might not like large groupings of kids, he was hungry it seemed.
      "Alright, alright, I'm coming!" I told him as I buttoned up my school uniform.
       We made our way downstairs quickly ate our food with the other kids, and left for school.

Time skip.  During School Noya POV

        I was sitting in my last period of the day, Math. It was two weeks into school and I was already hating not being able to go to my dream school. Ever since me and Sho watched Karasuno on our way home from school that one day in elementary, we had always wanted to go there. I began to think about how amazing it would be to go to Karasuno, we were devastated when we found out the orphanage was too far away from the school to go there, then all of a sudden I was shook out of my thoughts by laughter. I looked around to see everyone staring at me, and the teacher looking at me angrily.
"Nishinoya-San if you are not going to pay attention in class at least be quiet when doing so!" She began to scold me for the next few minutes, but I just tuned her out. When class was over I got my things and was out the door in seconds.

Yuuto POV (6 months earlier)

I asked Kōshi one evening just because I was still young enough, and wealthy enough to take care of another child, whether he would like me to adopt him a little sibling. I was expecting him to give it some thought and a maybe, but instead he immediately jumped up hugged me and started shouting yes nonstop while jumping around the room excitedly like a child on Christmas morning.
"Okay, Okay! Calm down" I say with a chuckle. "It's nothing definite, I was just curious on your answer. Also it wouldn't be right away. There will be a ton of paperwork and inspections." I tell him.
He nodded his head to show he understood and continued to prance around the room.

Present Time Yuuto POV

I'm just as excited as Kōshi, our big house feels so empty without his mother or big brothers there. I pull up to the orphanage and begin to feel nervous 'what if they don't want to come home with me?' Is what I think as I step into the orphanage.
       When I open the door I see a bunch of children running around and I can't help but smile. Then I spot the elderly man I spoke too on the phone, he walks over and confirms it is me "Mr Sugawara?"He questions I reply with a nod and a yes, he smiles at me.
       "Over the phone you told me you were looking for an older child to young teen correct?" He says, I nod while replying yes. "Okay we currently have seven children over the age of eight and younger than thirteen." The man tells me, then he gets a somewhat serious look on his face. "Two of them have had a really rough past, and can't be separated, those same two have been adopted four separate times and are always brought back. So I will show you the others first." He says with a frown on his face. This intrigues me but I do not push for more information.
        "Okay!" He says with a sudden smile on his face. "Ill show you the kids!"

Time skip  Yuuto POV

       He has shown me the five other kids, they all seemed really polite and nice, but I didn't feel like I was the right parent for them. The only children that are left are Shouyou and Yuu as I am told these are their names. I follow the man upstairs and we stop at their door, I knock and ask if I can come in it is quiet for a couple seconds before a soft voice is heard saying come in.

Noya POV

      I was talking to Shou about why I think the best position is Libero, when a knock came from the door. Then a soft male voice asked if he could come in. I quickly hid Shou behind my back to give him a sense of security, and stood up, then I softly said "come in".
The door opened to reveal a man with silver hair and smile lines, he looked kind enough. However, I was not about to let my guard down in front of Shou.
      "Hello my name is, Sugawara Yuuto" the man said with a smile.
       "Nishinoya Yuu" I said without taking my eyes off of him.
        Then I pointed to the hidden Hinata, and stated in a protective voice "he is my little brother Hinata Shouyou".
        The man nodded then spotted a bunch of drawings about volleyball that we made and asked "Oh, do you like volleyball?" At this Shou nodded his head tentatively and tilted his head slightly as if to question 'why?'.

The man, Yuuto, talked with us for nearly an hour, as time went on Shou opened up a little more . We talked about volleyball, well I mostly talked but Shou added in some things. The man, Yuuto Sugawara he told us, was very interesting he talked about his son who is on the volleyball team at Karasuno as a first year!
When Shou heard this he perked up a bit and began to mutter about his role model the Little Giant, and I talked about how much we have wanted to be on a team and my favorite position Libero. We continued to talk while Shouyou muttered and nodded. After about another hour of talking and a small smile from Shou at a really good joke the man made. Mr. Sugawara said he might come to visit us tomorrow. That night was the one of the best night of our lives and would mark the beginning of a new perspective on the world for us.
