"Around 7th grade, you know about that time I passed out in a passing period?" Asks Ashley.
"Yea I was freaking out"
"Well I was transferred to a hospital and I was put under a search for the reason why I was so ill. The took my blood and spinal tapped me and nothing came out weird. The doctors thought I was dehydrated, but my levels were perfectly fine. So, they finally did some scans of my body to see if there was a blockage or something worse. Well..." Ashley stops.
"Ashley... What's wrong?" I ask. She starts to sob. She took a big sigh and spoke with tears in her eyes.
"They.. they found a tumor in my brain. It nearly cut off the blood circulation in my body and it almost left me brain dead. I felt a bump on my head, but I never take notice of it or worried about it. I just thought it was a cyst or a lipoma under my skin. I didn't bother me. But until they told me they would have to surgically remove it, they would have to remove the hair follicles and that I would have a permit scar on the back of my neck." Ashley then pulled off her hoodie and then in saw that a large portion of her hair was missing. My heart broke. " I lost most of my hair due to cancer. Yes, It was cancerous and they say that I may have cancerous cells in my body but they state it is malignant. But, because of my past cancerous tumor, they said this whole patch of my hair would never grow back. The doctors recommended shaving my head and then have me wear wigs that were tailored for me, but I didn't want to have a huge reminder of my past. I was too embarrassed for me to tell you what happened, so I just kept it to myself. I'm sorry for just telling you this now. You deserved to know this before, but I figured this would be the last time I would have the chance to tell you." I sat there with shock on my face. I never knew that this was a thing.
" I never knew.."
" I'm sorry I never told you sooner. You are one of my best friends... I'm sorry for not telling you." I hugged her. She hugged me back.
" I'm so sorry!" she sobbed in my ear.
" don't be sorry. I love you just the way you are. We will fight through this, together."
"Thank you, Kyli. I wouldn't know what to do without you".
