In the year 4052 humans mined the earth hollow of its resources. In an attempt to reproduce more, the earth went into a dormant state, and an age of ice and desolation overcame mankind. For one thousand years the planet stay sleeping until the sun finally rose in the year 5870. Nature took its course beforehand, .though, and those left of the old world created "restoration cities", replicants of man's once great cities. The most prominent and flourishing came to be known as Le'Aleroux, located in South Africa. Its inhabitants: the rich, the ambitious, the gullible, and the outcasts.
