-old unfinished post-
Hello! I just recently finished watching the live action adaptation of The Lion King! To be honest it was quite amazing and I definitely (if you haven't already seen it or have tickets) watch it.
Although it was great, everything about it had pros and cons. In this post I'll go over both for every section. It will be from my own personal experience watching it in 3D not regular.Visuals (cgi)
Pros
-some of the scenes make it seem way too realistic for this time. For example, Kiara's ceremony. The entire scene just seemed like you were actually there. Simba looked like you could touch him if you got close enough.
-the water honestly had one of the most realistic touches to it. The fire too. In general all the elements had a certain feel to it that just made the visuals extravagant.
Cons
-although incredibly realistic and amazingly beautiful, during a scene when a tuft of Simba's mane left, it started out amazing. Eventually Rafiki got a hold of it, but by then the fur had this feel of being pixles plastered onto the screen
Story progression
Pros
-overall they added to the story quite well. Changed some things, added, removed. In general, it was quite amazing seeing the difference in progression. It was still the same plot, but had a different feel to it.
-the fact that they added a form of a deleted scene made it all the better. On top of that they elaborated on how Nala escaped to find Simba, or how Simba fit in with Tamon, Pumba, and the others. It overall added to the story and made it better than the original in a way.
Character build and plot
Pros
-they added a bit to Pumba and made him a bit smarter than before, or, Tamon wasn't quite as harsh on the poor guy.
-Simba's arc overall progressed in a better way than the original. Giving him motives that are elaborated on.
-Ed got a voice. Ed seriously got a voice, allowing him to have a small arc. It was small, but allowed him to have more personality than his laughs and seeming like he was an idiot.
-the writers added more creatures to where Tamon and Pumba lived, adding to the plot there.
Cons
-the Hyenas got less screen time than the original movie. Being a decently good sized role in the movie, it felt like their build was quite lacking and dry in many area's.
-Shenzi got pretty much no screen time. She was quite a major role in the original, but was only shown like 5 times in the adaptation.
