[after an alternate ending to s1, in which shuu can smile without worry.]

...

Shuu turns once, twice, and then he rolls over another time before staring blankly at the ceiling of his darkened room. He's bundled in his favorite blankets, his plump white rabbit plush is sitting near his head, and he can faintly smell the relaxing scent of his favorite conditioner lingering in his hair...

There's no doubt that he's comfortable, and he really should be falling asleep, but he can't.

Shuu sighs, and then a goofy grin spreads across his face when he can't help the thought from crossing his mind again: He's going to BC Sol with Valt and Rantarou.

He's the Japanese National Champion, and he's going to BC Sol with Valt and Rantarou. BC Sol. The best Beyblade team in the World League. And with Valt and Rantarou too.

"I can't believe it," the white-haired boy whispers to himself, still smiling as he reaches upward and pulls his stuffed animal close to his chest. Its floppy ears fold against Shuu's chin as he curls himself into a ball and tucks the plush rabbit securely between his arms, a little squeak of excitement leaving his lips. He closes his eyes and thinks again and again and again about how this is all really happening.

Typically, it's pre-battle anxiety that keeps him up—especially when his next opponent would be one of his toughest rivals—combined with the unsolicited, negative thoughts that pop into his brain the moment he's about to drift off to sleep. Right now, however, it's the complete opposite. Shuu can hardly contain himself; this is the one of the few, first times that he's genuinely looking forward to something, and it's nothing short of eager, warm happiness that's keeping him up.

He's the Japanese National Champion.

He defeated Lui Shirasagijou.

He got scouted by BC Sol, and he's really going to Spain.

He's going to be teammates with Valt and Rantarou, and even Free de la Hoya, the number one-ranked Blader in the world.

Shuu's brain is running on rewind and repeat, and the Spriggan Blader smooshes his stuffed rabbit against his chest even tighter as he opens his eyes and stares into the gentle, fuzzy gray darkness. He starts to recognize the shapes of the familiar objects in his room while the dim moonlight slowly seeps through the curtains drawn across his window and his eyes adjust. He rolls over again, and he grabs Spriggan from his bedside without having to even look. It's become a habit. Shuu brushes his thumb over the Bey's face, and he holds it just as close as his rabbit plush. Subconsciously, he lifts his other hand to touch the scar running across the edge of his right eye, and he frowns a little before shaking his head.

It's a mark of victory now.

He won.

He always knew that he could overcome his greatest obstacle, his greatest challenge, his greatest fear...

Another battle, another memory, but something he won't ever forget despite going to start over new at BC Sol.

In two weeks, he'll be in Spain, and with Valt and Rantarou, no less. He won't be alone, and he'll be alongside the boy who makes his heart soar—not that the blue-haired Blader is really aware of that, but...

That's something for another time.

Shuu's just happy to be where he is right now.

Safe, warm, and soft.
