August 28, 2014.
First day of senior year at high school.
Kill me now.
I woke up to my blaring phone, my alarm loudly playing Animals by Adam Levine. Groaning, I rolled out of my comfy bed and onto the cold hard-wood floors. Practically crawling into the bathroom, I reached for the sink and hauled my self up to see my reflection. I inwardly gagged - I looked like shit. Reaching for the hair brush, I dig it into my rats nest of hair. Scrunching my eyes up from the pain, I decided to save myself and just put my long brown hair into a French braid. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I walked out a little more awake and refreshed than a few minutes ago.
Shuffling to my closet, I dig through looking for something that won't make me look like I tried hard, but also won't make me look homeless. After 10 minutes of searching, I decide on my Nirvana muscle tee, my black lacy strapless bra, ripped jeans, and my favorite black combat books.
Make up was a little easier. Just a simple elegant wing of eyeliner and a few coats of mascara did the trick, to black color bringing out my light green/blue eyes. Stepping back to reveal my final product, I sighed, satisfied with my work.
Just as a I walked over to my bedside table, my mom yelled from downstairs,
"Leah! 10 minutes till school and I want you to eat something!"
Yelling back a okay, I opened my door to the warm, sweet smell of my mothers special pancakes. Grinning, I raced down the stairs.
Sitting at my kitchen table was my older brother Carter. We got along most of the time, but overall I guess you could say he was a pretty good older brother. He was in his first year of college, but I guess he decided to stop by for my first day to wish me luck.
"HEY, HOW'S MY LITTLE LEAH DOING ON THIS FINE DAY?!" he called as he through me over his shoulder. Giggling, I smacked his back telling him to put me down. After setting me back on my feet, I hopped into the chair and ate my share of pancakes, moaning at the delicious taste.
My best friend Erica sent me a text, interrupting the glory.
"Hey babes! I'll see you at school, meet me under the tree near the west wing!"
That's was our little spot, we had always met up there before and after school to rant about our day to each other.
I replied, "Hey lil hoe, I'll see you then! <3"
We had a joking type of relationship, so we could say those sort of things to each other.
Once I was finally finished with my mom's special pancakes, I gave my brother and mom a hug, grabbed my bag and keys, and headed out the door.
-
"Leah! I missed you!" Erica called from under the tree. I laughed, because we saw each other yesterday and have been texting non stop. She gave me quick hug, and we chatted about our night until the bell came.
We hooked arms and marched to the office, getting our schedules.
"What?! How do we only have 1 class together?!" She cried. Sighing once again, I told her I'd talk to her and headed off to my home room.
Sitting in the back corner, I scanned to room looking for any friends. None. Great. I pulled out my phone and scrolled through Twitter until the teacher walked in clearing her throat, her signal for us to quiet down.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I'm your home room teacher, Mrs. Landis. I also teach math and you'll be seeing me-"
She was cut off my a boy barging through the door.
"Hello, I'm so sorry, I'm new here and got lost," he said in a thick British accent, panting for a breath.
"Not a problem, take a seat in the back." Mrs. Landis smiled to the boy.
The curly haired boy scanned the back row, until his eyes fell on me with a little smirk.
He marched down the aisle and plopped his bag on the desk, still looking at me. As the teacher started talking again, he finally looked away.
Turning away also, I listened to the teacher, until I saw a paper land on my desk. Unballing it, I read,
"Hi, I'm Harry."
