Rosaleen De L'enclos woke up in a cold sweat after dreaming about the prophecy she just uncovered called The Chosen Maiden. As she sat up, she noticed her mother, Anna De L'enclos, folding clothes and putting them in Rosaleen's dresser.
"Another nightmare, Rosaleen?" Anna said still folding clothes.
Rosaleen has had the same nightmare everyday, but when she found The Chosen Maiden she had a new one. She found it in her families giant library, in their very giant home.
Before Rosaleen's father Troy died, he was a photographer for models. That is how Troy and Anna met, Anna was a model. That is why her parents and her live in such a big house. Though most celebrities were arrogant, rude and pretentious, Troy and Anna were the most caring, beautiful and sharp people on the earth. When they had Rosaleen, They had a hard time picking a name, until Anna remembered what most people called her, "As Perfect As A Rose Without Thorns", hence the name Rosaleen. They limited their shooting times, so they could spend quality time with their beautiful daughter. Unfortunately, when Rosaleen was 15 years old her father died during a horrible fire. While Rosaleen and Anna were sad, Anna showed Rosaleen Troy's office, the place where he was everyday, with his prophecies. Prophecies were Troy's passion and Rosaleen was determined to keep his father's memory alive, so she spent hours in that office reading thousands of prophecies and deciphering what they meant. After a while Rosaleen did what her father did, she fell in love with prophecies. She loved them and how complex they were. She loved the rhyming and the confusing words, but one day she found a prophecy that was hidden behind the bookshelf as if it didn't want to be found or it was hidden. Rosaleen read it and deciphered it and she took a very good interest in it. Though she loved all prophecies, Rosaleen found this new prophecy very intriguing. It was called The Chosen Maiden:On the day that the sky is most black
In little time the fallen angel will rise
The archangel will come back
One will have to meet their demise. The King Of Demons will retain
The Seven Angelic Weapons
He will throw them to the mortal domain
And they will find the Chosen Maiden. She will save us all
Or destroy mankind
She isn't mortal
But apart of two worlds combined. He wants her dead
But she's ahead
She has Heaven on her side
She will win if the rules she can abide. There was always something about that prophecy that Rosaleen found amusing and so she deciphered it, as she did every prophecy. She found it more and more exciting as she broke down each and every word. Rosaleen understood every line, except one, the first one. Since she couldn't interpret it, she turned to her mother. She found Anna in the kitchen preparing food.
"Mother, I need help with a prophecy. It seems impossible to determine." Rosaleen said with a pouty lip.
"Rosaleen, I'm not a good decipherer as your father, but I'll try." Anna followed Rosaleen's lit up face to the study.
"Look, 'On the day that the sky is most black', what does that mean?" Rosaleen read the line as the traced it with her finger.
"Well there is an eclipse coming, it's to be said the darkest one that'll ever exist. Could very much be that." Anna said very unconcerned.
Rosaleen took a shocked gasp. "When?"
"Tomorrow. Why?" Anna was extremely confused.
"Lucifer is to rise, as will Michael. They will battle, but Lucifer will have the Seven Angelic Daggers. He'll throw them to the earth and they will lead him to the chosen one. He wants to find her because she can either take Michael's side and save the world or she can take Lucifer's side and destroy the world. She'll also find out where she's from because she's half human and the other half of her she'll find." Rosaleen said within one breath of air.
"Rosaleen, it's just a story, it's not necessarily true." Anna looked Rosaleen in the eyes with love and worry.
"It's not just a story, it's a prophecy. It's real." Rosaleen said with a whine.
"Whatever you say, Rosaleen. Dinner will be ready in an hour. Finish up here." Anna left the room.
Remember, this all happened yesterday. We left off talking about how Rosaleen woke up with a start. She was scared for what events were to come. She was scared what the Chosen Maiden would choose, to save or to destroy. Whomever it will be, Rosaleen would find them and tell them right from wrong. She would go anywhere to find this person, I mean she's twenty-three, she is also a model, she can do whatever she wants.
That day, Rosaleen packed her clothes in preparation of leaving for wherever she needed to be. No matter how long it would take.
"Mother! I'm going to go out, I'm going to see Monsieur Grasidito." Rosaleen said as she grabbed her purse to leave.
"The librarian? Why?" Anna walked into the room.
"He might know what time the eclipse will start." Rosaleen said shuffling through her purse.
"Alright. Be back soon." Anna left the room.
"Of course mother." Rosaleen walked out of the house excited.
As she made her way to the library, she kept taking glances at the sky in anxious waiting.
"Bonjour, Monsieur Grasidito! Are you here?" Rosaleen walked into the library looking around for one of her best friends.
"Oh bonjour, my dearest Rosaleen." An old, hunched, blind man slowly walked up, with a large shepherd leading his way.
"Salut, Aimeé!" Rosaleen bent down to pet the big, black and brown dog.
"Salut Monsieur." Rosaleen stands up from the dog and hugs the elder man.
"Have you finished the prophecy book you checked out yesterday already?" Monsieur Grasidito started to move towards his desk. "Desk Aimeé."
As soon as the librarian said desk, Aimeé started to guide the old man to his check-out desk.
"No Monsieur, I wanted to see if you knew when the eclipse would be?" Rosaleen said following the old librarian to his desk.
"Oh, the eclipse. Come with me, chéri." Rosaleen smiled at the name Monsieur Grasidito called her as she followed him to the little loft filled with books and lost items. There was also a table with two items. A pen and paper.
"Look here Rosaleen." He and Rosaleen both sat on opposite sides of the table. "An eclipse can last as long as the moon and sun are touching each other. And according to the records, it will last 8 minutes and 57 seconds."
"Monsieur, do you know when it will start?" Rosaleen asked desperately.
"I'm very sorry, chéri. It's extremely hard to decipher." The librarian said trying to think.
"Merci, Monsieur. I appreciate the help a lot." Rosaleen used a lot of french with Monsieur Grasidito, since he was used to only french.
Rosaleen stood up as she shook Monsieur Grasidito's frail hand.
"Au revoir, Monsieur!" Rosaleen yelt from the front door.
"Au revoir, chéri!" The librarian said from the loft.
Rosaleen walked quicker than before as she went in the direction of the house. As Rosaleen entered her home, her mother was walking past the door.
"Oh mother we should go to the Grand Théâtre de Jardin. It just opened and I hear it's ravishing." Rosaleen said as she walked through the door.
"Sure. Why the sudden interest?" Anna asked.
"I just need to be outside to see where the daggers will land." Rosaleen answered.
"Oh. Of course. The prophecy." Anna said heading up the stairs. "I'll
get dressed. I'll be ready in a little."
"Got it." As Anna climbed the stairs, Rosaleen went to the study and reviewed the prophecy.
"I really hope the chosen one isn't far." Rosaleen whispered to herself.
"Rosaleen! I'm ready! Let's go!" Anna yelt from outside of the office.
"Alright, Mother. I'm coming!" Rosaleen responded as she made her last few glances at the book.
As Rosaleen walked out of the office and towards the front door she thought of all people that could possibly be the chosen one. What if it's someone that wants to ruin the world? She thought. Then realized that that's what she's here for, to guide them to the right path.
Rosaleen and Anna left their house and quickly walked down the narrow roads. They found nothing out of the ordinary, everyone was doing what they did every other day.
"Rosaleen, were here." Anna's voice snaps Rosaleen out of her observation zone-out.
Rosaleen looks up to see a giant building, half an isolated rectangle, while the other has a large glass dome as a roof. As they walked inside of the area with the glass dome roof, their eyes travelled from the golden walls, to the beautifully grown garden in the center of the circular room. The garden had so many different flowers and yet they all seemed to compliment each other perfectly. It also had a bridge that crossed from one side to another, giving access to anyone who wanted to touch or smell the flowers.
"Which movie did you want to watch?" Anna was already walking off.
"Whichever you wish, Mother." Rosaleen said quickly following her mother.
"I heard The Story of Nelly Gong is a good one." Anna said stopping at the ticket booths.
"Yeah sure." Rosaleen said still distracted by the amazingly decorated room.
"Two tickets for The Story of Nelly Gong, merci." Anna said to the ticket seller inside of the booth, as she shuffled through her purse for her pouch of francs.
As Anna gave the seller two francs, Rosaleen kept taking quick glances at the sky.
"Rosaleen. Come on. We must head into the theater." Anna coaxed her daughter from a few steps away.
"Oh, uh." Rosaleen quickly caught up to her mother. "Sorry, Mother. I'm keep getting distracted."
"Oh darling. It's alright. Your father got distracted all the time and this place truly is extraordinary." Anna responded looking around the beautiful room.
"Yes, it is." Rosaleen said as she touched the carefully carved moldings on the wall.
"Oh, this is our theater." Anna looked down at her ticket then at the sign beside the entrance door.
Rosaleen and Anna both sat at their seats and the movie immediately started to play. They sat in silence as they all watched the silent film with the playful music playing in the background.
In the middle of the movie Rosaleen told Anna as she got up, "I'm going to wait for you outside, I'm not a fan of this movie."
"Oh! Thank goodness, I didn't take a fancy to it either." Anna said getting up after Rosaleen.
They both stood up and quietly left the theatre. Since all of the movies were playing, no one was in the circular area with the garden and glass dome roof. It was quiet and completely empty. Anna sat on the bench that was on the bridge in the middle of the beautifully grown garden.
"Come sit darling." Anna says patting the spot on the bench beside her, indicating for Rosaleen to sit.
Rosaleen sits beside her mother. "Mother, am I too obsessed with all of this?"
"With what?" Anna asked with loving eyes.
"With this prophecy. Should I just let it go?" Rosaleen looks at her mother's eyes, hoping that they will lead her to an answer.
"Oh, my sweet sweet child." Anna got up and walked towards some flowers. "Come. I want to show you something."
Rosaleen got up out of pure curiosity and confusion for what her mother was to show her.
"Look at these flowers." Anna crouched down and touched one of the beautiful flowers. "Do they all bloom in the same directions?"
Rosaleen shakes her head.
"Do they all grow the same amount of petals?" Anna asked another question.
Rosaleen shakes her head again.
"Then if this flowering family doesn't inherit every little detail their elders have, then why must we?" Anna said with a smile. Anna points to a white lily. "Do you see this flower? What colour is it?"
"It's a white lily." Rosaleen said trying to understand her mother's words.
"Now look at this flower." Anna points to the flower beside it. It was also a lily, but purple. "This purple lily and this white lily are family. Just because they are different colours are they any less family?"
Rosaleen shakes her head. "No."
"Just because they aren't exactly the same does that mean they don't know each other?"
"No, Mother." Rosaleen responds.
"What I am trying to say is that, you took up prophecies to keep your father's memory alive. Will you ever forget your father?" Anna asked getting quite serious.
"Of course not, Mother." Rosaleen said.
"Then we don't need a prophecy to keep him alive. He will always be with us, in my heart and in yours." Anna said as she looked at her daughters tearing eyes.
"Oh, here darling." Anna gives Rosaleen a handkerchief. "Don't cry. Your father wouldn't like it."
Rosaleen takes the tissue and dries her eyes, as Anna gets up and twirls with her arms straight out.
"We are all alone, dear. Come dance." Anna was about 7 feet away, just admiring the architecture.
"You can dance and sing, Mother. I love the sound of your voice." Rosaleen smiles as she sits back down on the bench.
"Are you sure? Don't let me-" Anna was interrupted by the sudden sound of broken glass.
"Mother?!" Rosaleen gets up as soon as the glass breaks and she makes eye contact with her confused and worried mother.
As a few seconds past, Rosaleen looks at her mother to see seven daggers plunged into the floor. She realized that the daggers must have been the things that crashed through the glass dome roof. As she looks from the daggers to the new hole that allowed the moon to shine into the room, she sees that the daggers are positioned into a circle. As Rosaleen looks at the circle she realizes that the circle is surrounding her mother.
"R-Rosaleen? Is-is this part of th-the prophecy?" Anna said with her eyes closed, wanting this not to be a reality.
"Mother. You are the Chosen Maiden." Rosaleen said with a smile.
"Rosy, I don't know what to do?" Anna said eyes full of vulnerability.
"I-I don't know." Rosaleen said looking up at the sky.
"I guess we'll find out." Anna said a little more confidently, but still unhappy.
As soon as Anna stopped talking, a beam of light shone through the hole in the roof.
"Hello, Anna." said a voice from the beam. "It seems that the angelic daggers have chosen you as their savior."
"Who are you?" Anna asked astonished.
"I am Michael, the Archangel." From the beam of light the silhouette of a man with wings emerged.
The angel gently landed on the ground and the beam of light disappeared.
"Hello Rosaleen." Michael turned to look at Rosaleen's shocked face, then turns back to see Anna.
"H-hi." Rosaleen said trying to grasp at words.
"Anna, we must move quickly. Lucifer will arrive soon enough and will stop at nothing to get a hold on you." The angel said as he grabbed Anna's hand.
"Wait," Anna took her hand from his. "Rosaleen must come on any journey that we are to take."
"Anna. This is a serious war against the Heavens and the Fiery Pit of Hell itself, and you want to bring your daughter?" Michael asks.
"Wherever I go, she goes with me. Rosaleen knows this story better than anyone." Anna said with patience and confidence.
"I know. I've had Gabriel watching over you. We weren't sure who would be the chosen maiden, but we knew that it would be one of you two." Michael looks at Rosaleen. "You show great promise, young lamb, but the daggers have chosen."
"I understand. I'm happy its my mother." Rosaleen said still shocked that she's seen an archangel in person.
"You are such a beauteous girl," He looks back at Anna. "but she can not come with us."
"Then I'm not going with you." Anna said taking a step back away from Michael.
After what seemed like hours, Michael said the best thing he could've ever said, "Alright."Hello, readers! This is StoryBook28 here, I want to know if you would like me to continue this story. Comment if you do and I will! Bye!
